Are there any tutorials on the correct way to duplicate (or close to) original Parker finish?

Look up TimberLuxe for the closest thing you’ll find to original Parker stock finish... because it is the same formula that was originally used.

Really??? Parker used Linseed oil and Sunflower oil originally?

Original Parker finish was Shellac.

Timberluxe does freshen and restore original finishes well, but it is not an exact replica of the original finishes.

Sorry Brian - no offense intended... what I should have said is that it is the closest product we can buy without having to mix our own.... or something along those lines.

That is a loaded question that I will not get into at this time.

I was under the impression that French Polish was used as a top coat? I was looking for the procedure used by Parker. I assume some red oil filled grain then French Polished?

There were two separate articles on stock finish published in Parker Pages by Austin Hogan. He was also an expert refinisher of antique furniture.

I had republished both of Austin’s articles in Parker Pages within the last couple of years.

Dean, as you suggested, I just pulled up an article that Austin Hogan wrote on finishes from the digital archive. Very cool that we have all this information at our fingertips now. I recommend this archive to all members who want to know more about Parkers and also about the depth of work that fellow members past and present have put in to the preservation and understanding of the Parker gun. For me at least, this knowledge enhances the enjoyment of owning and shooting them.
