Barrel Fitting
Can # 1 frame hammered damascus barrels be fitted to # 1 frame hammerless gun?
|
not easily - the lugs are different
|
Radically different but I think Brian Dudley has done it.

Hmmm... I thought it was Brian who machine-cut and welded the lug to conform to the frame that the barrels were being fitted to.
There were pictures and everything. In any case, it can be done. . |

he may have - he does some interesting stuff - and surely he will comment on this topic anyway but - that said - enough time and enough money  almost anything is doable of course - a Purdey might be cheaper :rotf: |
Dean, That was Russ Bickle that did those conversions. Unfortunately Russ has since passed on.
|
Right Dave, Russ did some work for me but I saw the pictures on a forum (thought it was here) and it may have been on doublegunshop and it could have been Dewey but I can't swear to who did the work but I thought it was Brian.

Anything can be done, I would not recommend trying it.
There really is no need to have to do this. Hammerless barrels are out there. |
Hammer barrel lugs can be converted to hammerless guns. the considerations are frame size and dollshead configuration. We just completed two sets.
