Parker Parlor Lamp...

1 Attachment(s)
Ran across this lamp last week. Thought the price was a bit high...so I made him an offer..He said he had it long enough..so I bought it. It has been electrified..which is fine with me..

I have an old coffee grinder that my grandfather turned into a lamp by installing a socket on top of the handle knob. It has probably been a lamp for about 80 years. I have been trying to find different models of Parker coffee grinders to see if it is indeed a Parker but can't find any markings and one side of cover that slides over the grinder is missing.

Actually the grinder looks just like this one on Ebay. I have had that lamp and using it for years and just realized it was a Parker coffee grinder.

Todd, just so you know, you are rapidly nearing the 700 post limit for non-pgca members. You should consider joining before you are unable to post anymore.

Parker lamp

Man that's the type of Parker nostalgia I like. Great score. What should I expect to pay for something like that. Just a range is good for me. Thx

Based on ones I have seen on ebay, maybe $300-500. I regularly search what is out there hoping that I can find one that I want to buy for a good price. A lamp is an item I do not have in my collection.

I paid $105..and that included shipping to me..To me...one that has been electrified is more desirable than original. I can use this one without a mess in the house..I just need to always shut the gun room door..or the cat will want to mark it !..j..

The fact that it has been ‘modernized’ reduces its collector value but its functionality today makes it more desirable to some. It is in really nice condition judging by the picture.

Dean..The main reason I made the offer and bought it, WAS that it had been electrified. I'm not a purist about such things..and certainly value function over form in this case..That..and the fact that my wife would not be crazy about kerosene smell in the house. The condition..I would say is very good plus..not mint..but no chips, cracks, breaks, etc. I have a very early Coleman sliver finish lantern that has been electrified..and have flicker bulb in it..It works well as a night light in the family room.

I can accept a Parker lamp, electrified, but a chrome plated Coleman, no way. By the way, tell us about the sign leaning against the gun cabinet in the first post.

Jerry VanHorn 10-18-2018 01:55 PM

Bill..All early Coleman lanterns were silver colored...probably nickle..and had a 6" diameter shade..The Parker sign is newly made ..with an "antiqued ' finish....I put "vintage Coleman lantern" in EBAY search..There were 7 nickle ones on first page..About 1940s era..
