PH wood with knots
2 Attachment(s)
Recently acquired a PH. It was completely chocolate brown in color, and I did not see these marks in the cheeks. When I did my initial thought was that there was a dreaded dowel through the cheeks. Thankfully, the marks are knots, not a dowel! I was curious though, why would they have stocked this gun with knitted wood? Perhaps because it’s a low-grade gun?

I have seen much worse than that. The worst examples I have seen of factory wood with knots were on P grade guns. And one trojan.

I’m just happy it’s not a damn dowel in the head. I’ve been burned that way before, and have no interest in a repeat of it.

Not uncommon at all. This is my VHE Skeet 28 ga. The thin knot runs vertically through the right side of the stock. Double or triple click on the picture to enlarge it.

Dean, can we have a better look at your 28? The first and last time I saw it, it was running away from me. What is your serial number? Provenance?
