Timberlux

Can you put timberlux on checkering or you have to mask it while doing the wood?

James L. Martin 02-02-2018 07:53 PM

I put in on a checkered butt with a toothbrush and had no problem.

It can go on the checkering. But you dont want to let it collect in there.

A soft brush can be used to wipe out any excess in the checkering while it is still quite wet. Simply wipe off the brush after a couple of strokes, brush out the excess again and wipe off the brush again, repeating the process until you are satisfied you've removed as much of the excess as you want to.

Many coats of thinned finish that are brushed in has worked well for me. Is Timberlux a tung oil based finish? I did not see that on their web site.

I just used Timberlux on my 1881 hammer gun, including in the checking. No problem at all.
