Lifter 10ga questions
5 Attachment(s)
I found this today at a yard sale.Looks to be a 10a lifter with 30" dam. barrels and some case color remaining.Butt stock looks to have been replace at some point but forend looks original.Barrels look good but some frosting 2/3's down.
Left firing pin is broken I believe but everything else seems ok. Any thoughts on this gun would be appreciated. |

Gun is not in the book but barrels are 30" plus an eighth.
As I said butt stock looks customized but there is a shield.Butt also looks like from a completely different wood. |
Looks like a keeper to me ! Wish I could find one like that at a yard sale .You also talk about the stock and forend but cant really see from your pictures . You get all them guns at the same sale ?

No that was at the sale.Guy was kind enough to leave me alone with the guns. Most were in rough shape.Nice lever gun there but in rough shape.
Parker was the best of them all. |
Kinda tough to tell . Do you remember a shield ? I take it you didnt buy it
|
I see he had a 1873 SRC. Some yard sale !

I am VERY curious to see more photos of the buttstock. The bottom of the grip is very different. Parker did do some interesting carving of grips on earlier guns than this and usually in higher grades. And your grigger guard is intriguing. It is a two screw guard, which is not at all standard, but your guard and the screws appear to be factory by way of fitment and engraving.

Gun does have shield on top of grip right where its supposed to be but the pistol grip is what has me stumped. Its a 2 frame but the stock looks large for a 2 framed gun,in the pistol grip area. But might just be my imagination.
Gun looks good but the pistol grip is different. |
Stock looks original except the ball grip was altered. Probably to use as a place to rest gun on in a blind or stand etc. looks like a grade 2 10 ga. With never Deeley latch conversion. Nice find and should make a nice shooter with light short10 loads
