Vintagers 2015

i have not been to a vintagers since the first couple years at Pintail Point, we normally have a conflict that time of year. But since it was back fairly close- and we might be free, I was thinking about maybe planning to go this year,

but - looking at the Vintager's site - there is no 2015 info

Dover Furnace has something called "North American Shotgun Classic" on that weekend

did the event run its course and die a natural death, now that there are so many competing double gun events?

Mike Koneski 02-05-2015 04:47 PM

As far as I know the Vintage Cup is the last weekend of September at Dover Furnace. Unless that has changed?

Rick Losey 02-05-2015 04:52 PM

on the Dover Furnace calendar

Sept 2014 said Vintagers

Sept 2015 says "North American Shotgun Classic"

maybe its just a place holder

Steve Cambria 02-05-2015 07:13 PM

Unfortunately, a faint shadow of what it once was at Millbrook and Pintail Pt.!! JMHO but I believe RP needs to join forces with The Game Fair at Sandanona and create one big-arrrrs, mid-September blast.

All we really want is to bring back the crowds, buzz & excitement of years past that quite honestly have all but vanished from this event. Like apple pie and a sharp cheddar, there simply has to be an autumn double gun get together somewhere in the NY/New England vicinity. Just sayin'.

Dean Romig 02-05-2015 07:24 PM

I heard somewhere that RP was toying with the thought of selling "The Vintage Order of Edwardian Shooters". True or false?

Dave Suponski 02-05-2015 07:27 PM

Dean, I also heard that he offered to sell it. At an earth shattering price I may add.

Steve Cambria 02-05-2015 07:53 PM

So perhaps the rumors are true? The 2015 VC will be held at Highclere Castle? Trappers on loan from the cast of Downton Abbey? Sure hope you can get there for Thursday OP.....or else!!! :bigbye:

True to form...

The Vintagers website is the last place anyone should look for information on the current Vintage Cup event. Ray usually posts information on his site about a month before the event. Look elsewhere. By the way, the "Vintage Cup for Sale" information is about seven years old.

i realize it is not always up to date

that was why i checked the Dover Furnace site first - no Vintagers listed there.

Dean Romig 02-06-2015 10:33 AM

But where??

John Campbell 02-06-2015 12:47 PM

Has anyone thought of asking Ray?

Don't bother. I called myself. "It hasn't been determined yet" is the situation. They will post it on the web when it has... the nice lady said.

Mike Koneski 02-08-2015 11:14 AM

I say go to Rock Mountain September 3,4,5 & 6 for the SxS Challenge and Expo. Just sayin'. (Shameless self-promotion)

Nothing wrong with that.....:)

John Truitt 02-09-2015 10:10 PM

Looking forward to it Mike!!!!!!!!!

Rick Losey 04-04-2015 01:55 PM

sounds like the death notice for the vintagers is out

Dean Romig 04-04-2015 02:03 PM

Bummer...

It has always been one of the biggest draws in the East... Now what?

David Dwyer 04-04-2015 03:24 PM

Issue there is a conflict with a religious event called grouse season

John Campbell 04-04-2015 05:46 PM

I sincerely hope that Vintagers continues. And the thought of an alliance with Game Fair is a good one. So is some co-op with the Southern. I just wish the Fall Southern was a month earlier myself.

Candidly, I think the Spring and Fall Southern events have upstaged Vintagers in many ways. And are pointing the way to salvation of Vintagers.

Just think. Vintagers could be held in a Red State for once.

Mills Morrison 04-04-2015 06:06 PM

New England needs a quality double gun event (or two) and hopefully something will get started back up.

Dean Romig 04-04-2015 06:53 PM

Dover Furnace, just across the NY line from New England, is a really nice facility, according to Vintage Cup attendees last year. That is central enough for the entire Northeast. I sure hope someone gets something going there.

Dave Suponski 04-04-2015 09:03 PM

Dean, There has been talk of that....

Since the news of the VC, we are toying with the idea of moving our shoot from Sept 3-6 to Sept 24-27. Stay tuned. If not in 2015 we may "pull the triggers" on moving it in 2016.

The word I hear is that Berretta is going to pick it up, and if not, The owners of Dover Furnace will hold their own event.

John Truitt 04-07-2015 11:15 AM

I personally would hate to see us loose the Vintage Cup. It would be great if it could be continued, modified. resurrected again in some fashion.

Is there a contact person with the Vintagers to talk to?

Dean Romig 04-07-2015 11:26 AM

Last I heard it was a person by the name of John Chudzik. I have no idea what his contact information might be.

John Campbell 04-07-2015 11:38 AM

Hmmmm… The Vintage Cup. Brought to you by:

Shooting Sportsman
Double Gun Journal
Garden & Gun
The Field

And the scores of vendors who show up to sell stuff (God bless 'em!)

KCordell 04-07-2015 12:11 PM

Just curious, as I have not paid much attention to it since it left Maryland, but did they every consider to bring it back to Pintail Point? The location is quite central to all vintage shooters in the East.

Dean Romig 04-07-2015 12:35 PM

Pintail Point was always a great central (to the Eastern part of the country) venue for the Vintage Cup and now that the Vintagers leadership has changed, it might prudent for 'the powers that be' to have discussions with the owners/managers of Pintail Point.
