1876 lifter

Can anyone tell me what frame size, gauge, and barrel length lifter #7136 left the factory as?
Thanks
Carvel

7136 is a 30" ten gauge. It was most likely built on either the 2 frame or the 3 frame.

Measuring the distance between firing pin centers in sixteenths of an inch will tell you the frame size.

The 2-frame measurement is 1 2/16" and the three frame measurement is 1 3/16"

Was the frame size system fully standardized at this early point in production?

I have two early lifters that have some variation from the standard frame size system. Both are 12g guns. Both measure a little over 1-1/8" at firing pin spacing, bolt they both vary by about 1/16" in overall width over bolsters.

Carvel,

Are they all lifters? I will have my bore and chamber gauges and want to get more data on the bore and chamber configurations of early Parker's for an Article I am writing. I look forward to meeting you at the SXS.

Richard,
I will have a couple of lifters (3251 & 18127) that you are more than welcome to measure if you want.

Carvel Whaley 03-19-2014 07:41 PM

Only 2 are lifters.

Larry,

Thanks. That would be wonderful. Are these both 12-gauge Parkers? I am hoping to measure several guns there. Maybe there will also be several of the 11-gauge Parkers there as well.

Do you have any idea if there will be anyone at the SXS with very early 1865-1875) Eley or Parker Paper or Parker, UMC, Maynard or Draper Brass Shotshells (either for Sale or Show)?

I look forward to seeing you and all my friends in Sanford.

Yours,

Richard B. Hoover
