are you a dues paying member?

Hi Gerald,

We have two levels of membership. 1) the "associate member" is one who has free access to this forum and can join in on the conversations than take place here. 2) The other is a "PGCA member" and that is a person who is a dues paying member who gets additional benefits beyond this limited forum access. One of those benefits is the access to areas of the forum not visible to "associate members"; one of those is the "for sale" page. As a PGCA member you would also get a quarterly Parker Pages magazine (great source of Parker information and related stories).

I would encourage you to become a PGCA member. We become a stronger organization when "forum members" like yourself take the plunge and join the PGCA.

Being new to the Forum, I have two questions....
1) is all the checkering the same and if so what is the pitch?

2)Who can remove a dent in the barrel, very small dent but it is visible on the bore.

I just inherited two Parkers from my late brother.

1) A 28 inch 12ga. made in 1901
2) A 30 inch12ga. made in 1905

Both are quite nice and could use just a minor restoration

The "Parker Grades" link will show you variations in checkering (no pitch info though... someone else here can help with that) and the "FAQ" link to find a gunsmith.

Checkering LPI gets finer as the grades get higher and on some guns there are two LPI used.

Welcome Gerald and Jack to the PGCA forums. We would very much like to see pics of your Parkers. There is a wealth of info and a lot of great people meeting here every day.

Checkering patterns vary by grade. And so does the pitch. As robin said, generally they are finer as the grade goes up. But, there can be a good amount of variation within some of the grades in different eras. There can be a 6 point swing within grades on checkering pitch.
