Gents, can anyone identify this? Let's see who has the correct answer.
1. What is this steel? 2. Who is the maker? 3. Is this pattern unique? |
It looks like the new Purdey - an attempt at Damascus beauty.
Too far over the top, in my opinion. See here http://www.purdey.com/guns-rifles/damascus-guns/ . |
Modern Purdey Damascus gun. Made about 5-6 years ago? I think the steel is Swedish

Mystery Steel
Isn't that the Purdey Damascus by Sweden's Damasteel AB?

Dean and John, you are correct. Purdey made about 2-3 yrs ago. According to the gentleman at Purdeys when I was last there, this is their most recent attempt at producing a Damascus double. I believe it's a one of a kind. Was sold but on display at Purdeys when I was there. Just look but don't touch as it was not technically theirs.
Dean, the workmanship on this sxs was incredible but as you said, it was quite "over the top". John, the steel may very well have been Swedish. I've included a few more pics of the Purdey shop in London. A shop to visit if ever in London for sure. Yanks are most welcome there! |
There is also one at CSMCs New Britain Showroom. At least it was there in the fall.

Isn't this a variation of the Odin's eye pattern?
|
Fred, I don't know. Someone far more knowledgeable about Damascus patterns may be able to answer that question.
Brian, was/is the gun at CSMC the same as the one I posted? Perhaps Purdeys is making more of these? |
I do not know it is was THE same gun as the one you pictured. But it was a new Damascus Purdey gun.
