Morphy Auction Single Traps

Morphy's was an excellent opportunity to score a Parker single trap. Successful bids are available on their websites. Too bad the big Parker shooters were away at the Grand.

Some pretty good deals, even with the 20% buyer's premium added on.

I had my eye on the L. C. Smith Crown grade SBT.

I had my eye on one, but bowed out

I hadn't looked the Morphy auction over until just now . Wish I'd known I'd atleast have run the price on the VHE 20 up a little more .

Parket SBT Trap Guns @ Morphy's

I was at Morphy's while these Parker trap guns were being sold, I thought they were very reasonably priced.
I never have actively pursued a Parker SBT but when comparing to the Ithaca SBT's that I have, I thought they were reasonable and I had a hard time keeping my hand down.

Is this the normal price range for these guns?

We've recently had a similar discussion on this forum. It's my opinion (and that's all it is) that the normal price range for a Parker SC in unaltered condition is $2,800 to $3,200. At least one of the Parker SBT's in the Morphy auction had a replacement stock. Since I buy them to shoot, that doesn't really bother me if the gun is sound and fits me. Although I would take that in to consideration when pricing it. Remember too, I believe in buying high and selling low.

Mills, what single did you have your eye on? I thought the second single in the Serialization Book, #176,128, was a decent deal at $1600 plus the BP if it is mechanically good. I wonder what the letter says. I have some information from The Parker Story that implies that it is only in the stock book, not in the order book.

Mills Morrison 08-18-2020 01:51 PM

That might have been the one. I think it was the last one auctioned off.

Mills, the restock was the last one sold, and $1792.00 including the buyer's premium, not a bad deal. #176,128, the second single in the stock books, went for a reasonable $1968.00. It may be an important piece of Parker Brothers history. The great Remington era single, #236,770, went for $2767.50, the best deal of all the singles in the auction.
