Restock of an HE SuperFox

The original buttstock on this HE had been pinned a few times in the head and was cut down very short. The owner of it wanted a new stock made from grade appropriate wood with the only changes to be some cast in the stock and to his required LOP with a new Hawkins pad.
A good strong and conservatively beautiful piece of circassian walnut was selected for the job. The original form and style of the stock was replicated. The factory checkering pattern reproduced on the new stock as well. The original forend was in find condition, so it was refinished and its checkering recut. All of the screws were replaced and engraved to match the originals since they were a little less than perfect. Next I have to re-blue the barrels and trigger guard before it gets put back to use this upcoming season. Great job. The stock looks perfect, but not “new”. Very appropriate

I'm doing the exact same job at the moment ,with the exception of upgraded wood -small world!

With Supers commanding good money as of late, I think people have no issue spending the money on them.
I too have another Super in the works right now. With much nicer wood than this one. It was custom stocked by someone else previously with a piece that should have never been put on the gun. Cross grain in the wrist. After it breaking TWICE in less than 8 years, it was time to replace it again. The owner did not care about fancy wood, but I am trying to match the forend that is on the gun which is still good. |
Brain , flawless job as always.
