Addieville in October?

In speaking with Edgar, we'd like to get a group of shooters together and shoot Addieville on Saturday, October 17th. I know it's prime hunting season but let's see who would like to come. Just reply to this thread.

allen newell 09-05-2020 06:03 AM

Count me and my english setter in gents

Donald McQuade 09-05-2020 09:55 AM

I would be very interested in attending. I also have a good buddy who I am sure would also tag along. This is clays, not birds, correct?

allen newell 09-05-2020 12:46 PM

I assumed we are talking about a bird hunt but if its clays, i will still go. Just wont need to bring my setter.

Dean Romig 09-05-2020 01:04 PM

Sporting clays boys, and 5-stand after for those so inclined.

.

allen newell 09-05-2020 02:41 PM

Shot sporting clays yesterday at Addieville. Shoot the 7 station course first, then shoot their regular clays course. Great fun. Dropped off at Robin Hollow my 12 ga vhe that Brad B. restored for me before he passed away. Not shooting 12's anymore, just 16 and 20 ga's.

Russell E. Cleary 09-07-2020 08:43 PM

Definitely interested in Oct. 3rd; not sure about Oct.17th.

Dave Suponski 09-08-2020 05:59 AM

I could make the 17th but the 3rd we will be hunting upstate NY.

Jay Oliver 09-10-2020 12:07 AM

What a great idea! I am in and can likely make either day work. I have a few "new" Parkers to bring :)

Chuck Bishop 09-10-2020 09:22 AM

We've settled on Saturday October 17th at Addieville. We'll set up a time to meet later on. What about Frank, Scott, and Pete? I know it's hunting season.

Dean Romig 09-10-2020 09:57 AM

Have a great time guys!!

I'll miss visiting with you all.

Scott

The 17th the leaves will be mostly down in the Maine grouse woods and there is only 1 October. Wish it were otherwise, any chance to listen to Edgar should not be passed up but only this one thing takes precedent. Wanted to meet Chuck and thank him in person for 2 great favors he has done for me, maybe next time.

Hmmm. How many days can you hunt in Vermont in a year. Oh, I know.
92

I wonder how many days Chuck, Our MOST Valuable Research Director comes all the way up to New England to Shoot? Oh, yeah................

Don't fall and break your gun again.

You don’t get it Edgar... several people, including my grandson Cam and a couple of granddaughters as well as my brother in law Jamie, depend on me being at grouse camp ON WEEKENDS. They don’t have weekdays off like we retired folks. I can shoot at Addieville any day of the week in October EXCEPT WEEKEENDS.

I’ll be in Vermont mentoring my grandkids on weekends this year and hopefully for as many other Octobers as possible. Time is running out fast for some of us old-timers.... or haven’t you looked in the mirror lately, if your knees and hips and lower back will allow you to get up and walk to a mirror???

Sorry Chuck - I hold you in very high regard and truly value our friendship (and Edgar’s too) and I hope you won’t hold it against me for being absent.

.

edgarspencer 09-10-2020 04:58 PM

Bring them to Addieville. You did before.

Dean Romig 09-10-2020 05:29 PM

Hmmmm... not a bad idea except that if it rains in Rhode Island then the shoot will be called off.
If it rains (or snows) in the NEK then we’ll be out hunting.

But thank you for that good suggestion.

I know what you’re saying Dan. I’m going up around the 8th but will come back for Addieville, then go back North. Chuckles is a good guy and has hosted us at shoots, and as Dean points out, none of us, including Chuck are exempt from getting old.

Chuck Bishop 09-10-2020 05:56 PM

Dean, don't let Edgar pull your chain. Family always comes first. Although I don't hunt, I understand your passion. Every fall, I'm either at a Penn State football game, in front of the TV, or listening to the radio. I've been known to miss birthdays, funerals, and weddings because of it. It's a good thing Koneski has a satellite dish in his clubhouse! I totally understand. Dean, Dan, Scott, and others, the Lord willing, there will be a next time. I hope you guys fill your bag.
Best,
Chuck

Who says we won't still shoot in the rain?

I was actually thinking of buying a wedding cake at Costco and bringing it to Addieville in honor of your 25,000th. You know we're all waiting for you to say something very profound. In fact, it will probably be inscribed on granite in the Library of Congress. Don't F it up and say something like "Well I'll be!"

Tom Jay 09-10-2020 06:15 PM

Hunting in NYS 10/3 and 10/17 is opening upland day in MA. I'll have to pass.

allen newell 09-10-2020 06:33 PM

Gents, since there is some discussion here re bird hunting up north....I would enjoy a hunt up north with my english setter over whom we have taken many birds these past 4 years. The guys i hunt and skeet with down here are not interested in hunting up north and i would prefer not to hunt alone. So here is an open invite to any who would like to make a trip up north for birds this season, let me know. Sophie my setter is steady to wing. Just pm me so we dont clutter this thread up.

Brett Hoop 09-12-2020 11:43 AM

I’ll get up there one of these days, but it won’t be one of those days. Buzzy and I will be rolling toward Wolveville, WI which is near No Where Near Nothing. Hate missing the offer to set camp in Edgar’s bear pasture. I once heard October winds blow like a pirate, and no where more so than the Northwoods. Heed their call we must!

Yeu better!.... But I should talk? I won’t be there either...:crying:

john pulis 09-23-2020 03:21 PM

If Edgar brings those special brownies, I think the LI Boyz might make the trip.

Chuck Bishop 09-23-2020 04:20 PM

How Special are they? I remember them from the 60's

Make it a combo cake - Make sure they also write "Happy 50th Anniversary" too which we celebrate on 9/26/'20

allen newell 09-23-2020 05:08 PM

If Edgar's brownies are the kind that we ate in my fraternity at Rutgers, by all means bring them but it would be best to eat them following the shoot.

Speaking of shooting...I am hunting pheasants at Markover tomorrow. Will be much fun. No brownies though! Lol

allen newell 10-05-2020 06:30 PM

Will there be a get together at Addieville? Thoughts anyone?

Chuck Bishop 10-05-2020 08:19 PM

We are still on for October 17th if the weather corporates. I'll post more details next week.

Dean Romig 10-05-2020 08:37 PM

Has anyone contacted Jack at Addieville?

.

Chuck Bishop 10-05-2020 10:14 PM

I've communicated with Sally at Addieville.

allen newell 10-06-2020 08:00 AM

I'm out. Will bird hunt in Mass. Instead

Chuck Bishop 10-12-2020 11:09 AM

The weather is looking OK for this Saturday. Let's try and meet at Addieville between 9:00 and 9:30. Here are the people I currently have as attending. Let me know if more people want to attend. We'll try and go out as a group so if your going to be late, call my cell that morning for an arrival update. 717-579-5131.

Me
Edgar Spencer
Dave Suponski
Donald McQuade and maybe more
Larry Frey and hopefully Deb
Jay Oliver
John Pulis and hopefully some more Long Island guys

Donald McQuade 10-12-2020 12:49 PM

I am sorry but I have to drop out. We had a death in the family and we are hosting several out of state folks who have come in for the funeral. Our house will be quite full starting Thursday afternoon through Sunday. The boss would not look kindly on me running off all day Saturday for some fun shooting, so in order to keep future endeavors in play for this fall I will have to bow out.

Chuck Bishop 10-12-2020 01:11 PM

Sorry for your loss Donald.

Russell E. Cleary 10-12-2020 08:49 PM

Chuck:

I plan to be there.
