Skeleton Buttplate Dimensions

Could someone please give me the length and width of a o frame 20ga DHE

skeleton buttplate? Galazan has one that is 5 1/8 x 1 5/8 but I think the 20ga o frame is smaller?

That dimension you list is for a 1 or 1-1/2 frame.

BUT... earlier 0 frame 20 and 16g guns were also fitted in this size plate. But later guns used the plate that more coincided with an 0 dhbp size. That is under 5” in height.

It depends on what era your gun was made really as to which size is correct.

The gun was made in 1924 I did try to do a search but so far I am not having any luck. Thanks I will keep trying

I do not know if this will help, but my 20-ga. 0-Frame DHE Repro's SSBP measures 1.45" wide x 4.814" high.

Unless CSMC has an original NOS or used Parker Bros. SSBP that they're selling, the one's they have listed, I believe are made by McFarland; Brownell's also sells them. McFarland's are shaped a little differently than an orig. Parker Bros. SSBP and the top screw screws in longitudinally to the stock, whereas the Parker Bros. and Parker Repro's SSBP top screw goes in at an angle.

From time-to-time you'll see an orig. Parker Bros. SSBP listed on this forum's members only For Sale forum and also on eBay.

I can telll you that the ssbps that csmc sells in their catalog are not correct in form for a Parker. Unless you are in communication with them about something they have that is not cataloged.

Generally repro buttplates are narrower than original guns. The small framed guns are close. But the 12g is way off.

1924 is a hard timeframe to tell for sure. It was kind of going into the transision petiod on buttplates on Parkers. I THINK that would use the smaller size plate, but you would really have to look at the butt end of another known original gun from that timeframe to know for sure. A gun with a dhbp would be fine too.

My gun has a replaced butt stock with a pad, very poor job. I thinking I want to have a new stock made but finding the skeleton buttplate might be more of a problem then I want. Brownells has a Mcfarland that is 5"x 1 5/8. but you are saying it is shape different. My last DHE 20 had a smaller plate but I can't remember what the dimensions were.

If you are looking to have a stock made, then your options are kind of open and you can be flexible.
I have a number of ssbps on hand of various sizes. Some new, some used and some repros.
