On a Search
I am in the beginning of a "Resto Mod" project, to use car collector parlance. I acquired a basket case 00 frame VH 28 bore earlier this year, and there is no case to be made for a proper restoration, and I have decided to cobble together an interesting custom gun. I would like to find an "up and coming" engraver, and with the exception of a couple of minor requirements, let them have a free hand with the gun. I just do not know how to find such a person.
Any Ideas? |
Now you have a reason to attend the Vegas show in Jan when the engravers guild is there. Lots of engravers readily available for discussion. I met a fellow out there who did a custom job on a M-21 for me. He was accomplished but not a journeyman thus no journeyman price. It worked for this project and I was more than happy.

Mark, Dan Cullity in Sandwich, Mass is a very accomplished engraver. If you have not found an engraver, just google his name and it will come up.

go to engravers café web site and ask.

I am a hand engraver and will see you at our guild show in Vegas in a couple of weeks if you come. It is the largest gathering of engravers in the world and the only one of this type of art in the country in such a concentrated, genre specific setting. Jan. 25-27 at the Westgate Resort Casino. We are part of the Beinfeld Antique Arms Show.
If you can't make it, you can PM me if you wish. As an aside, I've had my eyes open for a 20ga VH for myself to do exactly what you are with yours. Just haven't found the right one and as always, it's risky buying online without looking REALLY close at the barrels. The hunt continues... WWW.FEGA.COM |
