partially restored trojan
I posted photos of this trojan a week or so ago. No finish and scuffed up.
I refinished the wood myself with timberlux finish and stain. Came out good and easy to do. Tom Flannigan did a great job rusting the barrels without removing all the old finish. Its a nice looking trojan. Has some character and doesn't look brand new, but it has its dignity back. http://parkerguns.org/forums/picture...ictureid=10834 http://parkerguns.org/forums/picture...ictureid=10833 http://parkerguns.org/forums/picture...ictureid=10832 http://parkerguns.org/forums/picture...ictureid=10831 a few before shots: http://parkerguns.org/forums/attachm...1&d=1531943308 http://parkerguns.org/forums/attachm...1&d=1531943345 |
Bill’s Trojan barrels are an example of what I have mentioned from time to time. Preserve original finish if possible. The barrels had a lot of wear near the breech and some rust spots. But the muzzle half of the barrels was pretty good. So I cleaned up the rust spots near the breech and left the original finish intact. I restored the barrels matching Parker color (distinctive blue in the color) with the original finish intact. I think Bill would agree that the finished barrels blend perfectly and they do look like Parker bluing which about 60% of the barrels are. It didn’t take long and Bill had his barrels back in a little over a week. My mantra has always been to preserve original finishes when possible.
