Damascus Barrels- Type
2 Attachment(s)
Hi!
Several questions about my Damascus Parker shotguns in GH (1922) top photo and DH (1894) bottom photo. 1. Please identify the type of Damascus used in each set of barrels. 2. The GH barrels are not as bright as the DH- what can cause this? Thanks! Jim |
GH is Parker D3 3 Iron "Oxford"
DH is Parker D4 4 Iron "Turkish" Lots of information here Jim https://docs.google.com/document/d/1...YvzD18i3c/edit re: coloring is dependent on the source/composition of the steel, technique, and a little witchcraft ;) https://docs.google.com/document/d/1...g51u_SnEM/edit Parker D3 Oxford refinished by Channing Will. Two wavy zipper welds within the straight ribband edge welds OR viewed another way, 2 full scrolls between 1/2 scrolls http://pic20.picturetrail.com:80/VOL.../370550942.jpg Close up http://pic20.picturetrail.com:80/VOL.../405916959.jpg |
Thanks very much Drew.

I never get tired of admiring Damascus barrels

I agree with Mills. They are beautiful pieces of the gunmakers art. Those bbls have character that is lacking in the look of fluid steel. Kind of how I always liked curvy dames too!!! More character. ;-)

What style of Damascus was used in Parker guns such as BH listed as Extra Fine Damascus?
|
Mostly the same 6 Iron "Turkish" as AH, with the flats marked 'DD'.
