ejector forend question
 

Recently i picked up a Ghe 12 that is need of much care and attention. I need to get the forend wood seperated from the steel and have run into problems. I had no problems removing the four screws. Two wood screws through the back and the metal screws on top. I got the latch part out okay. but the ejector frame seems like it ought to slide out but it acts like it is still fastened. The ejector is cocked. Does it need to be released before it is removed. Or is there some other trick i dont know about? Ive disassembled non. ejectors many times but never tackeled an ejector forend. Thanks

The forend iron with ejector unit should come out whether they're cocked or not. But trip them and see if you can get some movement after that. Try not to force anything. It may just be corrosion bond with the wood that's hanging things up. Hopefully no one tried to resin bed the affair in the past...

Thanks Kensal, Ill give that a try. Im getting it to move a little. Just wanted to make sure there wasnt some hidden gottcha before I went any further

Yea its out and everything seems okay. I guess the wood had swelled or something. It was incredably tight.

This is not an uncommon issue, even with standard extractor forends. Between wood changes and gunk, they can really get hung up. I usually use the back of the barrel lug hole as a point to tap on with a wood dowel or something.
