DHE 20 Transition Gun

Nicely configured upland transition 20 listed today on GI. You don’t see many transition guns on the market. This one has great dimensions for bird hunting.

Wonder if the bank would let me transition some of my confederate money to greenbacks? although money is being printed so fast these days, my Confederate bills I think are worth more than The greenbacks, crazy world right now! Gary

I just looked at the pictures of that gun an hour or so ago. Still mostly Parker Bros. Still has the PARKER BROS. OVERLOAD PROVED markings on the barrel flats --

Attachment 88352

I have found the PARKER BROS. OVERLOAD PROVED markings used up into the 2369xx range. Some guns in the 236xxx range I've recorded with no proof markings on the barrel flats. The lowest serial number I've recorded with the PARKER GUN WORKS OVERLOAD PROVED barrel flat markings is 236490. I can't see a Remington barrel date code on the pictures I have of 236490. Serial number 236958 still has the PARKER BROS. OVERLOAD PROVED stamp, but has a Remington barrel date code of AD, A = March, D = 1935. Serial number 237149 with the PARKER GUN WORKS OVERLOAD PROVED carries a barrel date code of KD, K = May, D = 1935.

Likewise it has the Parker Bros. rib markings --

The frame has neither the PARKER BROS. on the side --

and no PARKER on the bottom --

Book says 30" gun, look at muzzle photo, what do you guys think about the gap between barrels ?

Dean Romig 09-19-2020 06:50 PM

From where I sit it looks like the exterrior walls of the tubes at the muzzle are touching quite nicely.

I have a 20 gauge with the Overload stamp and serial number 233073. I only mention because you said the earliest you had was the 236xxx range with the overload stamp. I don't know if this is helpful.

It adds to the knowledge base. Thanks -

Dean I agree with you ,the muzzle looks right it's just that the book says 30" & any skeet choked Parker I have seen are marked. Maybe the chokes were opened. Still a nice Parker.
