Just a few Waterfowl Mounts

I just wanted to post some photos of a few birds I picked up from the taxidermist on Wednesday. I think they turned out well considering they were in my spare refrigerator freezer for a while (the Woody since around 2000-2001) The Gadwall hen and the Mallard drake were the last two birds my departed German Shorthair Belle and German Wirehair Copper retrieved (respectively) for me. Both dogs passed away within two months of each other in 2012 and I wanted to have the birds mounted in their honor. I'm including a couple photos of the dogs also.

Who is your taxidermist? He should have some credit.

Taxidermist

I had the ducks done at Kanati Taxidermy located in Myerstown PA. I went there because Scott Lengel is their waterfowl specialist , and he has a reputation of doing excellent work. I learned when I picked up my birds that he’s been out with an injury for some time. The birds were done by a young man who apprenticed under Lengel , and I was very pleased with his work. I did not get the young man’s name unfortunately, but plan to continue using Kanati for any future mounts as I have a goal of taking a drake Gadwall to go with the hen I had mounted .
