redneck style
we shot at another club yesterday, this was in the parking area. gotta love old trucks |
I had the exact truck- 1954 R-110 model! Mine was chalky red (faded) with "Esso" in an oval on the left door and Woody Woodpecker head in an oval on the right door. What a great truck they are!!!
|
Old film too.
And in period correct black and white.
|
The Woody Woodpecker logo was for Thrush Mufflers or Ray Smith "Mr. Horsepower" Cams.

 thanks Bill, actually shot on B&W film I would have liked to have been able to have it moved away from the new vehicles and done a proper portrait |
Hey Rick,
I apologize for intruding on your thread but thought I would add this. And not too far from where you guys were shooting Sunday. Here's a couple pictures of my '51 Chevy pick up truck that I got in 1995 in Long Beach CA while visiting a circuit board supplier out there. I was looking for a retirement present for myself and paid $5,000 for the truck and $875 to ship it home in Webster NY. I sold it locally a couple years ago for $10,000. A nice clean 98% original truck that was a trouble free driver. Kinda wish I still had it. https://i.imgur.com/TuqyHon.jpg https://i.imgur.com/4TPDWWy.jpg https://i.imgur.com/XpY5Svj.jpg https://i.imgur.com/4XLK1iz.jpg?1 |
great looking truck Bill, i wish you still had it too :rotf:
that model Chevy -1st series or as they called it when announced in '47 "the advanced design" has always been, in my opinion, the best looking pick up ever built |
Great truck Bill. I had a '53, red. If it had been a 5-window I might still have it! Actually I sold it in 1968 and bought a new F-150, also a great truck but not nearly as cool.
And not to hijack, but this was parked outside my Dr.'s office the other day. No badges I could see as to the make. but it had a sticker on the back that said "If I went any faster I'd kill my hamster." https://i.imgur.com/fvGKCNql.jpg |
looks like a Mini

I am dating myself a bit but the Woody Woodpecker head in the oval was also an Esso mascot in the 50's. My truck was a service station truck with very low mileage and a mint condition green and tan interior.
Bill that is a beauty that you had! |

these old trucks are really great looking but if you were ahot rodder the transmissions were a little weak..i had a 1953 with a 261 chevy truck engine in it...i tore 5 transmissions out of that thing in 5 weekends the transmo would last about 5 minutes with a good burnout shift from low to secound and you could count the tranny goodbye...charlie

:rotf:
they were made for hauling cargo - not for "hauling ass" |
Sometimes you just gotta do both, I bet some of you guys still no the rush you get when behind the wheel of a fast car or truck, Gary

I'm sorry, but you guys got it all wrong. Hudson had it in spades when it came to a great looking pickup truck.

One of my high-school friends used to pick me up some mornings in his channeled '34 Ford pickup with a Olds 394 cid with six 97's and a LaSalle transmission. (Why am I even still here?) Rainy days were the worst..... there was no cover plate in the floor over the transmission and when he hit a puddle water would splash onto the headers and the cab would fill up with steam:shock:
Today it would be called a "rat rod" . |
what a way to ride to school......charlie
