2 1/2" 1 oz low pressure loads, 16 ga
With my upcoming trip to Kansas with Kenny Graft in November, I was looking thru my loading data for some 1 oz low pressure loads 2 1/2" to shoot thru my damascus guns, like my GH 16 and Lefever G 16. I really couldnt find any. I do have several boxes of 7/8 oz loads of 6's and 7's that I use for preserve birds. I have at least a case of RGL 6's and several boxes of old Rem 1 oz of 4's, and those will be fine in my VH 1 frame 16, and my Fox16's, and Ithaca 4E 16.
Any favorite loads to share--I was going to try to fit some LP 2 3/4" loads into 2 1/2" case. I imagine the SG 16 wad would be best, but I have DR 16, WAA 16, SP 16, and R 16 wads also, plus alot of different powders and hulls. |
Here is a reply on the subject from years past. One uses the data at their own risk. This is what I load.

Harold when I went to 7/8 oz from 1 oz I didn't change anything but the amount of shot. The powder I'm using in the 16 is no longer being produced so data won't help but just increase your shot charge and you should be fine.

Thanks Jerry and Rich. Rich, I believe you are using 7625, and I still have about 4 lbs of that, so I will give both loads a try.
How's the weather in Channing? |
Harold thats the powder I'm using. Thankfully I still have about 20 lbs of it. I haven't made it to Channing yet. I have a Medicare re certification class I must attend next Tuesday (they had is scheduled for 10/4:eek::nono:) or I won't get my renewals. I'll try to touch base with Kenny on the way through Felch. Give me a call and I'll give you an update I have no internet there.

Try the 16 gauge society, http://www.16ga.com/, there is an associated low pressure group that has many tested loads.
