Puppies and pheasants

Like Shawn's young dog in his post, my 2 females at 15 mo in their first season have me so excited. I have taken them out now on Ohio pheasant 3 times, and they have not failed to deliver. It was hilarious wathcing Willie try to figure out how to get ahold of those big birds for a retrirve. I am only shooting over solid points, they are retrieving, and backing.
The first pic is my first ever Parker, a great pheasant gun. It is a 1 frame VH 16, 28" barrels. I had the chokes opened to IC/IC back in the 1980's as it was my go to grouse gun. The other is my German/Belgian?? 16 hammer gun with 30" cyl/F. It only weighs 5 lbs 13 oz. Frank Sebro and Joe Graziano have recently posted pics of their new 30" 16 hammers--they make great pheasant guns guys. I was shooting 7/8 oz of 6's, @2 1/2" reloads thru it. I will try to get some pics of the dogs on point, but at this time am just really trying to reinforce their steadiness, and make the shot |
always wanted me a double gun that was choked full and clyinder...i agree with you this is a fine set up for most bird hunting....charlie
