2020 PGCA Annual Meeting and Banquet April 24th

The 2020 PGCA Annual Meeting and Banquet will be held in conjunction with the 21st Annual Spring Southern Side-by-Side Classic April 23-26, 2020 (Thursday to Sunday), at Deep River Sporting Clays.

Join us Friday April 24th at Carolina Trace Country Club in Sanford, at 2100 Country Club Drive. The location is very close to the Southern SXS and our PGCA hotel. Those of you that attended the 2019 foundation dinner have experienced the high standard of service Carolina Trace provides and would surely attest this to fellow members.

Tickets are only $75 which includes dinner and hors d'oeuvres. The evening will include a Silent Auction, themed Parker gun display with People’s Choice awards, a special Guest Speaker, the Raffle Gun drawing, and a ‘State of the Organization’ address by our President, Tom Wooden. The doors will open at 5:00 pm with dinner at 6:00 pm. Stay tuned for the display theme and banquet menu. Thank Mike Franzen for all the hard work on this event!

For event ticket(s) send a check made out to the PGCA addressed to Brian Hornacek with your return address noted.

What’s the dress code for this shindig ? Bibs and work boots or Bermuda shorts and sandles okay ?

John Davis 01-28-2020 06:20 AM

Just don't wear something that would embarrass your mama.

Louis Parker 01-28-2020 08:46 AM

Nicely stated Mr. Davis. Let me clarify for those who may not be Southern. Most male attendees have elected to wear a coat and tie as the venue is first class and so is PGCA.

John Bamonte 01-28-2020 02:35 PM

Can someone pass along the member in charge of the silent auction at the annual meeting in April? I have a handful of books I can donate if desired. Thank you.

John Bamonte

Check with Dean.

Dean Romig 01-28-2020 05:28 PM

The BOD is currently in the process of finding replacements for Larry and Deb Frey and Dean and Kathy Romig to take over the administration of the Annual Silent Auction.

It is truly time for some "new blood" to step up and take over the responsibilities that others have been doing for a decade or more.

It has been a fun and rewarding experience to manage the Silent Auction and I think I speak for Larry and Deb too when I say that.

Dean

PS - Our resignation as Silent Auction administrators also leaves a vacancy in the area of the ladies, Deb Frey, Kathy Romig and Margaret Bishop, who have been at the sign-in table at the door and in tabulating the totals for bidders as they check out at the greeters' table.

John,
Brian Hornacek has volunteered to be the go to person at this time. Thanks for your interest and involvement!
Mike

Parker friends, I will be accepting donations for the silent auction which will be addressed in a posting soon.

For dress at the annual meeting I would put participation over a coat and tie. All are welcome and the BOD would encourage those that have not attended a banquet in the past to come out to Sanford.

How does a Virginia gentleman normally dress for a nice occasion ? Wear shoes.

Russell E. Cleary 01-30-2020 04:16 PM

Again, the words of a famous female Briton whose son was an avid hammer-gun shooter:

"Dress..[is] the one outward sign from which people in general judge upon the internal state of mind and feeling of a person...."

I think business casual or sport coat and tie is fine but shorts, T shirt, sandals and shooting vest is a no no. :nono:

Well thirty years ago I would have said just shy of “black tie” , but this isn’t thirty years ago and I’m not as worried about playing the part as I was then .

Think the last time I wore a shooting vest was thirtyfive years ago , I’m more of the belt/shell pouch type guy , but the t shirt shorts and sandles are right on time :rotf:

A good friend of ours said his idea of dressing up was wearing socks

If Randy Roberts didn't have to wear a coat and tie to last year's banquet at Carolina Trace, neither do I!!!!!!! I can bring a brand new pair of moccasins, clean cargo shorts and a new Parker polo shirt. How's that? I wore a jacket and tie last year, two years in a row is unheard of!!

Dean Romig 02-08-2020 12:51 PM

First time for everything right Mike?..... :corn::rotf:

.

Mike Koneski 02-08-2020 06:29 PM

You got me there Dean! It’ll be my one sport coat and tie!! I’ll even wear a good ball cap. :rotf:

Dean Romig 02-08-2020 06:32 PM

I'm sure the clean cargo shorts wouldn't be frowned upon as long as there was a sport jacket and tie.

Tell us about the jacket... is it a Harris Tweed?

Mike Koneski 02-08-2020 06:55 PM

Black leather.

How rude! You have obviously forgotten that beautiful Parker blue tie that I wore last year. I specifically remember you commenting on how nice it looked and even going so far as to inquire as to where you might buy one for yourself. To much bubbly most likely. :)

Mike Koneski 02-08-2020 09:37 PM

That was one natty tie brother!! Went well with the vest. It was a fun evening and it’ll be another good one this year. Let’s pick a table where we can heckle Chuck Bishop. :rotf:

Chuck Bishop 02-09-2020 07:50 AM

What did I do to deserve these "slings and arrows of outrageous fortune"? That's from Hamlet Mike, something you've probably never read, your more into comic books! Go ahead and heckle, I can dish it out too:p

Randy G Roberts 02-09-2020 08:01 AM

That's funny. This is gonna be good.

Mike Koneski 02-09-2020 08:25 AM

Chuck, I know Hamlet. That is the story about the pig with the spider and the spider spins words into her web!

BTW, those aren’t comic books, they’re called graphic novels!!

“What fresh he’ll can this be?” Chuck, Dorothy Parker trumps Billy Shakespeare!!

Mike Koneski 02-09-2020 11:16 AM

Anyone bringing the Brooklyn Handicap to the table??

Chuck Bishop 02-09-2020 11:55 AM

Are you smoking that wacky weed? Bring some to the banquet:bowdown:

Mike Koneski 02-09-2020 12:08 PM

:rotf::rotf::rotf: Chuck, you know this is normal for me!! No need for any extracurricular activities for this guy. :)

Besides, take it easy, it's been a tough two months for me. I found out I was addicted to the Hokey Pokey. I turned myself around.

I’ll be 59 this year and I can count on my hands the number of times I’ve worn socks when I was wearing Docksides and that included a number of Navy Blaser , necktie and khakis occasions
