Yup, and that's "Iron Mike" talking to ya. A nicer guy you'll never meet!

Mike Koneski 02-19-2015 11:13 AM

All events will be shot at Rock Mountain. Sept 3-4 we shoot .410,32,28,24,20,16,12 and 10 bore 50 target events and 5-Stand. Sept 4-5 we shoot the 16,12 and 10 bore Prelim 50 target events and the black powder event (50 tgts). Sunday we shoot the 100 target Main Event. All these events except for the 5-Stand are for hammer and hammerless guns. The Manufacturer Cup Challenge is open to all manufacturers and will be shot Sept 3,4 & 5. In order to qualify for the team shoot off each manufacturer must have 5 team members. The top 5 qualifying shooters will be on each team.

Vendor space is available on a 1st come-1st serve basis for the pavilion and lodge porch. Space is basically 10'x10' (3 tables and 2 chairs) for $200. Extra tables/chairs are an added charge. All vendors/exhibitors who sign up before 15 June will be included in our large Shooting Sportsman ad. Gun collector associations will have booth space for no charge.

TROPHIES WILL BE AWARDED FOR: "HOA" OF SMALL, MID AND BIG BORE EVENTS, HAMMER & HAMMERLESS.
"HOA" AND "RU" OF PRELIM EVENTS, 10-12-16, HAMMER AND HAMMERLESS.
"HOA" AND "RU" OF BLACK POWDER AND 5-STAND.
"HOA" AND "RU" OF MAIN EVENT, HAMMER AND HAMMERLESS.
ALL 5 MEMBERS OF THE "MANUFACTURER CUP CHALLENGE" TEAM.
"IRON MAN" AWARD FOR HIGHEST COMBINED TOTAL OF MAIN EVENT AND ANY 6 @ 50 BIRD EVENTS.

All info will be found on our RMSC website on the Northern SxS Challenge and Expo page.

Craig Larter 02-19-2015 04:04 PM

Mike: Sounds like big fun. Will all these events be shot on the same course or do you have more than one. Have you set prices for shooting events?

Mike Koneski 02-19-2015 04:52 PM

One course for .410 through 24, one course for 20-16, one course for 12-10. Each course will have either 8 or 9 stations. The Main Event will be shot over 17 stations. 5-Stand and Manufacturer Cup shot on the games area. We have plenty of options. 21 stations we can use on the Main Course and 9 on the Short Course.

Rich Anderson 02-19-2015 06:20 PM

What no Hausmanns this year?????

Daryl Corona 02-19-2015 06:51 PM

Put down your bourbon, the shoot is in Sept. not June.:nono:

John Truitt 02-19-2015 08:57 PM

Mike,

Looks like a great shoot. I am really looking forward to it.
Stay warm up there.

All my best,

John

PS where are good places to stay near you for the shoot?

Mike Koneski 02-19-2015 10:49 PM

CL, yes the prices have been pretty much set. Working on carts for rent next. The registration will be posted on our site and the usual SxS sites when we have the cart rentals set.

Mike Koneski 02-19-2015 10:52 PM

John, saying warm means staying inside right now!! Sub zero and single digits make 20's and 30's seem like Summer!!

NO!!!! It's to damn cold out. I was referring to the shoot that combined Rock Mtn and Hausmanns. Last year they made it 100 targets per place. I wanted to go but it just didn't work out.

Mike Koneski 02-20-2015 11:22 AM

Correct, the Fall shoot is at Rock Mountain only.

Gary Laudermilch 02-20-2015 11:44 AM

Mike, this sounds like a wonderful event. It is destined to become the premier NE sxs event. Glad you decided to take it on. Can't wait!

Mike Koneski 02-24-2015 02:45 PM

We have just about finalized the registration form. Just waiting on pricing for clays cart rentals. Stay tuned, we should have the reg online within a week!!
The trophies are almost all here too. Just waiting on a few more and some wooden bases. They are very nice!! Too bad I can't try to win any!! :rotf:

Rich Anderson 02-24-2015 05:02 PM

Just buy an extra one and call it the Host Trophy:)

Mike Koneski 02-24-2015 06:48 PM

BRILLIANT Mr. Anderson!!

Mike Koneski 03-06-2015 09:51 AM

Due to the possible demise of the Vintage Cup, we may be moving this shoot to the end of September in 2016? Not sure yet. We'll decide after the 2015 shoot.

A little close to the east coast for that

I remember reading, many years ago that you can tell how far you are from one of the coasts by the size of the belt buckles

Small and light on either coast and getting bigger as you go inland until around Texas or Oklahoma or points north, they approach the size of a bread plate then begin to shrink again as you approach the other coast

Rich Anderson 04-09-2015 10:05 AM

For some of us our "bread basket" will hide the buckle:rotf: I'm not good enough for bling and realize my limitations :nono:

John Truitt 04-09-2015 11:14 AM

Mike,

Thank you for posting. You have done a lot of work so far. I know it will pay off in the end. I for one am really looking forward to your shoot.

All my best,

John

Mike Koneski 04-09-2015 11:59 AM

COB and Dean, that's why the buckles also come with a display base. Some don't wear fancy buckles and some CAN'T wear fancy buckles!!

Mike Koneski 04-29-2015 07:11 PM

We are currently working with the Comfort Inn and the Hampton Inn, both in Tunkhannock, to block rooms for the shoot. Tunkhannock is 15-20 minutes from RMSC and both hotels are only a few years old. We will also have carts available for rent by the day.

George M. Purtill 04-29-2015 10:07 PM

Maybe we could have a Parker vs. somebody challenge cup here?

Mike Koneski 04-30-2015 02:55 PM

George, we are running a Manufacturer's Cup open to all major US manufacturers. We'd have no problem with PGCA running an event concurrent to any of our scheduled events. We think that would be great!!

I could, but I'd never be able to see it.....

Mike Koneski 05-05-2015 05:11 PM

We have made arrangements with "Ma Greenleys BBQ" to provide the meals for this event!! You folks coming up from Dixie will indeed love Jim's grub!! Mighty tasty!!

John Truitt 05-28-2015 12:05 PM

Mike,

Can the main event be entered in both hammer and hammerless or do you want us to choose only one to enter?

Also how many attempts to qualify for the manufacturers challenge?

What time will shooting start on Thursday the 3rd?

Thanks. All my best,

John

John Truitt 05-28-2015 12:13 PM

Will there be trappers on each station/ trappers to go along with the group/ or pull and score your own in the group?

Mike Koneski 05-28-2015 04:43 PM

John, there are hammer and hammerless Main Events. You are welcome to shoot both if you like. Shoot as many times for the Cup as you want. Only your highest score will be used for the Team of 5. Shooting will begin at 8:30-9:00. We are working on having trappers on every station. We may have to use trappers that travel with the squads on Thursday. BTW, lodging info is on our website NOW and will be on our FB page and on the SxS sites soon.

John Truitt 05-29-2015 08:59 AM

Thanks Mike. I am really looking forward to your shoot.

Mike Koneski 05-29-2015 03:00 PM

Lodging info for Northern SxS Challenge & Expo

We have booked blocks of rooms in Tunkhannock (15-20 minutes south) at both The Comfort Inn and The Hampton Inn. Both are near restaurants we'd recommend any time and both have easy access to Rt 29 and a quick drive to Rock Mountain. If they book all the rooms early they should be adding more if needed. Here's the contact info-

Make sure to ask for rooms for "Northern SxS/Rock Mountain"

Local Accomodations for 9/3, 9/4 and 9/5 (If you want to stay over Sunday, 9/6, they can book you now, but may run out of rooms early)

2 Queen Beds $109 8 available for each night

Hampton Inn: 570-996-5866

Mike Koneski 06-29-2015 11:46 AM

2 items to add for now. We are adding another trophy for the Main Event High Lady. It is a beautiful hand crafted curly maple burl bowl that will have the RMSC logo, shoot date and "Main Event High Lady" laser cut on the bottom side. I'd also like to add that the PGCA will have a booth in the vendor area!! Autumn Daze will post more about that in the near future. :D

Mike of the Mountain

Mike Koneski 06-29-2015 11:46 AM

For all those interested, registration is open and we are taking reservations for carts and both hotels are accepting reservations. THX!!

Dean Romig 07-02-2015 10:20 AM

FYI - The Hampton Inn is not a "pet friendly" hotel.
