First Edition and/or Colectors Edition Books
I'm at that point in my young life where I'm thinking about who in my family gets what. Some of you know and can relate to this. Anyway, most kids today don't read books, they gat their info off the web in some form or other. My daughters don't want these books and sine my wife passed away, frankly I don't have the kind of hold on my 'stuff' as I may have once did.
The following books are either first edition or collectors edition as best I can tell. Anyone who wants any of these, let me know. I'm giving them away. Just cover shipping. 1. Roy Coykendell - Duck Decoys & How to Rig Them. Collectors Edition., comes with jacket. mint condition 2. I hope you continue to find good homes for your very nice books. |
Mills, you may have #6. Pm me your address.
All books spoken for now. Thank you gents. On a similar note, i have a beautiful African Kudu mount from a so africa safari some yrs ago. My daughter had it in her great room until they sold their home and downsized. My home will not accommodate it either. I tried to donate this near mint condition full shoulder mount to Harvards Museum of Natural History for their African but their Dir of Donations won't return my calls and text messages. I shot this animal and So Africas premier taxidermy shop, 'Lifeform' mounted it. I need to find a good home for this Kudu. Its quite large. Anyway, if someone wants it, come and get it. |
I didn’t see #3 go. It must have been a “curb trade”.
Very generous, Allen; all of the books have a secondary market value. |
#3 went via pm to me. Gents, i will try to ship these books out this week but it is a busy week and i will be out of pocket for at least 2 days. Ill get them out as soon as i can. Merry Christmas to all. Thanks again for taking these off my hands. Now if i can just find someone to take this Kudu mount.....
|
Allen, I'll see you at the New Year shoot.
Bring the Kudu with you. I'll have my grandson with me and he'd love it I'm sure. His mother (my daughter) on the other hand, won't be happy... On the other hand, maybe you shouldn't bring it. Larry has some high ceilings though, and he has several mounts displayed there.... . |
Dean, I would prefer not to lug the Kudu up there unless there is serious interest in someone wanting it
|
It was meant in jest...
. |
Phill Carr, your books were shipped out today.
Other gents, I will try to ship your books tomorrow or Monday. Need to get more box filler. I am shipping these books to you all via USPS as 'media'. The ship rate is minimal. Happy New Year |
Tom, your books will be shipped today. I could not fit the Burton Spiller books in your box. Need to get a larger box. Will ship them later.
Mills, Im looking for a box large enough for your books. |
No rush
|
Tom, post office says 5 days to your ny address. Ship cost as media was peanuts, so enjoy and happy new year.
|
I never saw any Burt Spiller books offered... was that a private sale?
. |
I didn't post them dean. They came up in a subsequent conversation and i agreed to give them. I will have your book with me jan1.
|
Who was the publisher on the Spiller book - original Derrydales, Crown or late Derrydales?
. |
Crown for both books. Grouse Feathers and More Grouse Feathers
|
Were they the limited set signed by Spiller?
. |
No, just signed by me...purchased at Economy Books and Stationary Store, 317 south salina st, syracuse, new york. 1972. They are both jacketed.
|
Mills, your books will be mailed out today to your Georgia address. Enjoy.
One more (and last) shipment to go to another PGCA member when I find another suitable box. |
Allen - don’t bother shipping mine. Next time we get together is fine.
I’ll take half the blame for not collecting it at Major Waldron’s on New Year’s Day. . |
A big thank you Allen. I recieved my books yesterday.
Phil |
Dean, I took my DHE to Cullity today for his evaluation as well as fix that sticking top lever. I will pm you on his feedback.
|
Phil, received the nuts today. Thank you. They are delicious and addictive!!
|
My wife says the books just arrived. We will send check in am. Thanks Allen!
|
Phil, no need to pay anything. I am happy they will be in good hands. Enjoy
|
To all those to whom I have sent books, you owe me nothing. The shipping cost was nominal. Just enjoying them will be good enough. Thank you all for taking them off my hands.
|
Allen good luck with the Kudu. The Grey Ghost of Africa is an amazing animal and is compared to our Elk. Before I moved I had vaulted ceilings and had one there but in this house the wife said no more dead animals upstairs. I did manage to get a fine Elk in but that was it. My basement has 8ft ceilings and the Kudu sits very close to the floor. The second one was done on a pedastal mount with a very drastic turn to fit.
They are a very nice animal to bad you need to find a new home for it. |
Ive tried calling the curator at one of Boston's natural history museums but she won't even return my calls and ive left full and complete info on her voice mail. I'm trying to give the dam thing away.
|
Did you try the Harvard Museum of Natural History?
. |
Yes. That is where I've been calling. Maybe if I was a Harvard grad and not Rutgers it would make a difference in the response. Anyway that is what a good friend of mine who is a Harvard grad keeps telling me. Lol
|
This full shoulder mount Kudu was done by South Africa's leading taxidermy company, Life Form. I paid a small fortune to have all my African trophies done by them.
|
Maybe a personal visit to the head curator is in order.
. |
Maybe
|
Allen:
Have you tried any of the local gun clubs? Maynard has a Caribou mount on the wall in the Lounge; maybe they could use a Kudu. I have been a Member there for over 20 years. Tell 'em I sent you. Maynard Rod and Gun Club secretary@maynardrodandgunclub.com (Secretary is Bob Trombley) |
