My time at the Southern was short but very enjoyable. What a pleasure it was meeting Bruce Day, Chuck Bishop, Bob Hayes, Mike McKinney , Randy Roberts, Brian Hornacek, and probably someone I have forgotten. What a great display of 20 gauge guns including Gary C's hammer 20s!

We had a great time at our first Southern. All the folks were super nice! Shot the 80 Round main event today with my custom stom Sterly 16. Very schizo...cleaned 7 stations, including the difficult 4 pair last station....but also had two 1’s, and two 3’s. Im pretty sure it was the guns fault.
Got a 20 piece galazan turnscrew set for $30, and a few other “doo-dads”. Almost made it out relatively unscathed, until a pristine LC Smith .410, and a Flues 28, decided they needed to follow me home. Enjoyed meeting and putting names with faces many regulars here in the forum. Thanks to all for fielding my naive questions!! We really enjoyed the HOF dinner. |
I looked at a grade 4 Ithaca Flues 28, Mark. But I left it on the table. I saw several Parkers that I liked but I didn’t buy anything.

I think I saw that gun too...it was nice...almost went in on a VH 20 straight stocked gun that was not monkeyed with...the little ithaca I bought is a field grade, 26” gun that weighs a hefty 4lbs 8oz. Very honest gun, aroung 80% overall, tight with nice bores. The Elsie .410 is 95% plus, 3” gun with 26” barrels, and dual bead raised solid rib. The only detractor at all is some checking on the shellac on the butt. Also looked at a very nifty 32” VHE no safety pigeon gun.
All in all had a great time, including the “pig picking” last night, featuring a really cool little blue grass band. |
Can someone post the 10, 16, and 20 gauge results? Thanks

Mark your BIGGEST find was most likely a very special ring, maybe I should call it a recovery. Lucky couple. Glad it worked out. Good meeting you.

This year was really a great weekend.Enjoyed meeting many of you this year and the dinner Friday night. The whole evening was extremely enjoyable.Name badges were awesome what a difference it made.
Shooting at Drakes was fun and will definitely do that again and join the fun at Deep River next year.I realized one thing that it's harder to make a purchase while toting a gun around shooting clays. |
Ed, yesterday, Bill Kemfler had all the scores posted on his website. The main event should be posted today.
