I was taking pictures of some guns I have and the wife told me to take one of the room. You can get the general layout. I ran out of room a long time ago and that why the rack on the ceiling. The room is called the "armory" no safes but a very complacated alarm system. Frank

What a great gun room Frank. Did you build or purchase the oak gun cabinets? I really like the idea of the ceiling racks and I see your Parker vs. LC Smith cap has a place of prominence.

Very nice Frank. Can we see a pic. of the celing rack? That is a great idea.
I'm planning a new gun cabinet now, I even have Parker drawer pulls to use on it.:)

That is cool. One of my earliest gun memories is my great uncle's gun room at his plantation on the Edisto River in South Carolina. Guns all the way around, but not on the ceiling. I will remember that idea

I will try to take pics of the ceiling gun racks to night. As for the Parker vs Lc Smith hats, I have the pleasure of two out of four that I have been in. We won both. I have missed a few because of med problems but I try to get there as much as my body let me. I am trying to make it to the fall one in two weeks. Thanks, Frank

Thank you all. I am about to take the pics of the ceiling racks. I just made them up in my reloading room because I was out of space. All the gun cases you see are also full but I don't have room to display the guns in them. Thanks again, Frank

Here are the ceiling racks. They are very easy to make and hold alot of weight. Frank

P.S. Glad to heard from you Destry. I miss you at the sxs event. Hope you can make to one soon.:bigbye:

What a wonderful place to hang out with a cup of coffee or a cigar or a glass of your favorite stuff....
I could use a place like that to sit and write articles for PP.
Simply outstanding.

I drilled some holes in the joists of my gun room (er...basement) and set some dowels in them. I store extra barrels on them.

Neat idea.

I would need to pay close attention to the strength of the wood and the direction of the grain. I've had one bad experience with a failed wooden rack that I would never like to repeat.

Dave Suponski
10-17-2012, 12:16 PM
You had the bad experience.... I still cringe everytime I put a gun in that darn rack.....

Dean Romig
10-17-2012, 01:54 PM
That's exactly the experience I was referring to... I was simply leaving out any names DAVE to avoid embarrassment to negligent parties heretofore not identified.

Dave Suponski
10-17-2012, 02:09 PM
Negligent..? Are you serious... Maybe we should just put the guns in a corner rather than use that rack you built when you were 6 years old or whatever. I still want to use it for kindling....:)

Very nice Frank, thanks for the pics of celing racks. There is a gun shop close to me here in Texas that has a set of 2 gun deep horizontal racks displaying their wares. Maybe you could think about that for your racks on the walls.

I have a guy that works for me that over the winter, we are redoing the room with that very idea. We have all the measurements and I can fit all my guns in the displays on two walls that way. It is just getting time to do it is the tough part. Thanks, Frank

Frank,

Papa told me that anyone that does not have 30 guns is underprivileged! Glad to see you don't fall into that catagory.

I hate to hear that cause I've only got 27 right at the moment. Well I was looking for an excuse.....

Only 30 guns to make the grade??? No worries on that account in my humble abode I think..... My friend with an FFL who receives the guns I purchase has a couple of guys who buy a gun or two per month and have in his estimation at least 300 guns in their houses.... phew....

Michael McIntosh had about 10 when he died, so I guess there is no shame in owning fewer.

I have always coveted M.M.'s days afield, but never his guns. As far as guns are concerned, I envy C.H. or R.P.

agreed - its not a numbers game, but its a heck of a lot of fun to come up with a nice find. (not unlike my too many prints) I walked away from a 28 bore double back action muzzleloader this weekend, Just decided -although it was a very unusual piece, don't think I have seen one before - I wouldn't use it much, and it had been aggressively cleaned.

I of course kept the guy's card in case. My lovely wife even asked the next morning if I wanted to go back for it.

Still thinking hard about a little 20 Fox I know of though. Its been restocked, but I can always use another rainy day bird gun

not being a number game work both ways

My bride and I have come to a truce - she doesn't ask how much I spend on guns and fly rods, I don't ask how much the new dress, necklace or hairdo cost. Somnehow it's worked for 44 years

Bill Murphy

The Lovely Linda and I do not have a truce and it is up to me to take care of the "situation". I do have the property under control, but the house, the guns, the cars, and the motorcyles are another thing altogether. Please wish me luck.

We have a footlocker gun safe from Cabelas' or Bass Pro and we are bending the laws of physics with the number we have in it.

Put a 20W bulb in it and bridge the switch and you've got a built-in "heat stick".

My gunroom:

Most guns in safes.

Has anyone any info on prints like this one? I recall seeing something like this before, I think in Britain. Found it in a junk shop. He's French by the way, an admiral.
