Hello all.
Just discovered the forum yesterday and joined today.
I have one original Parker and two repros - all double trigger, splinter forend, and straight stocked. They are all hunting guns and I can provide pix later when I have time to figure out the picture loading routine.
Off to the rifle range now to prepare for Colorado elk hunt this weekend.

Thanks for the well wishes. I have licenses for elk and black bear in southeast Colorado and if the weather cools a bit hope to shoot something worth reporting.

Thanks for all the positive vibes - it worked and i shot my first elk last week! He is a 6x6 and I amstill on cloude 9.
They were not buguling, so we really had to hunt hard and finally bumped a good bull from his bed and he chose to run straight away and a little uphill, leaving me no option but the "Texas Heart Shot". However the .338 Win Mag did the job.

Note damp mud where he had been wallowing the previous night. Got it all over the rifle taking PIX, but no matter.
My guide asked me to smile and I told him it was impossible to stop smiling:

Now I can get back to bird hunting and wait for the meat and antlers to come to Texas.
I promise next post will be about a Parker shotgun.

Welcome to the group.
What part of heaven do you live in? I'm in San Antonio.
Nice shooting, by the way.

Paul,
I live northeast of Dallas in Farmersville.
Btw, I get down your way a few time a year to hunt over near Hondo. Shot doves there one week after opening of season and will be back with rifle the weekend after Thanksgiving. I hope to get back to the D'Hanis Outback Saloon that weekend too.

We loved the rain and so did the pasture; thank you.

NOW, please make it NOT rain this Saturday as it would wet down our outdoor BBQ party.

Sorry, that's just a little beyond my control:)

Would like too, but between the 10/13 BBQ party (Texas style October Fest) and 10/28-29 Greystone castle (http://www.greystonecastle.com/ ) bird shooting trip, I need the 10/20-21 weekend for planting rye for winter graze for the Welsh Ponies. Work, work, work - OH wait, Rifle deer season opens soon and then hunting at Hondo - where does the time go when a person is so busy? :rotf:
