Precision Reloadins Brass Adapters for short shells

Precision reloading makes brass adapters for the 12 gauge and 20 gauge to use on MEC 600 JR's . I like this idea better then putting short kits on them like I have on the 600 JR I load 2 7/8" 10 gauge .

Now I am wondering if anyone makes something like this brass thing for use on a 600 JR 16 gauge ?

I have one 16 gauge thats 2 1/2" and about 5 that are 2 3/4" so it would be far easier for me to use the little brass thing rather then changing the MEC short kit in this one for sure !

I've found the short kit very easy to install, although the Precision kit also sounds nice. Is there something you don't like about the short kit ?

The short kit works nicely on my 10 gauge loader but these little brass things are used just on the crimping stations . And you can slide it back and forth with the shell in it .

Matter of fact the 12 and 20 gauge ones are on the way to me as I type this !

I've also already spoken with someone about making me something similar for the 16 gauge !

Of course if I had boatloads of money I'd call Ponsness Warren and get them to make me 800's for the 2 1/2" 12 , 16 and 20 as well as a 2 7/8" for the 10 gauge .

Or better yet just order pallet loads of shells from RST :bowdown:

Since I'll be loading both 2 1/2" and 2 3/4" off the same press this thing means you don't need to change anything !

I do not argue the point that the short kits are easy enough to install however , this little brass thing Precision Reloading markets is nothing more then a movable spacer for the crimping stations .

i use some things ive modified to load the short ten loadings..charlie

I reload RST Lite, and Paper Lite, both 2 1/2", on a 600jr, without the short kit. I just lowered the crimp starter and final crimp plunger.

Try a quarter & penny (one on top of the other) in the crimp starter and final crimp stations.

I use this on my sizemaster for 2 1/2" shells while leaving the machine also set for 2 3/4" shells.

I use 2 washers welded together for my short 16's. I don't bother the primer that way. It stays in the final crimp station. I lowered crimp starter a quarter inch. Cheap and easy.

Nothing wrong with inexpensive and do it yourself !

However................................,

I already have the brass 12 and 20 gauge spacers on the way .

And the 16 gauge is in the works at no cost to me !

The guy thats gonna machine the thing for me owns a Savage 111 LRH in 338 Lapua . I just finsihed working up loads and sighting the thing in for him at 100 , 200 and 350 yards . And about an hour ago I loaded 50 rounds for him free of charge , well let me rephrase that . All he had to pay for were the components he got my time and range work for free . So now it's his turn to return the favor !

Got my 12 and 20 adapters as I call them from Precision Reloading today !

They call them "spacer bushings" , whatever it seems like they outta work alright !

Now I need to get after the machinist guy to make me one for the 16 :whistle:

With abit of luck I should get the 12 gauge taken care of this weekend and quite possibly the 20 gauge next week !

Still need to find myself a old clunker used 600 JR for the 16 !

Did trim down about 125 12 gauge and 125 20 gauge yesterday to 2 1/4" on the bandsaw !

Still need to deburr them sort of before trying my first loads .
