Can anyone tell me if the Mec Grabber will reload 2 1/2 inch shells? I'm sure it's set up for 2 3/4, but is there a conversion kit like there is for the single stage loaders? I have the opportunity to pick up both 12ga and 20ga Grabbers, for a great price, but would like to be able to reload the shorter shells.

Thanks,

Mike

I don't think they can be converted Mike. Buy the grabbers anyway.

Maybe if you drilled a hole in the base. Mine has two holes, and the bolt/nut is in the lower one for 2 3/4' shells. I think the top one is for 3". Call Mec and ask - they're very helpful.

the Grabber can't be made to load the 2 1/2 inch hull, you will need a Sizemaster and a short kit.

Rich is correct - a 650 probably could be. The grabber has a shaft within the main shaft that is used for the resizing station. The 650 has a solid shaft.

I do not know of MEC making a progressive press for 2 1/2 shells in 12,16, 0r 20. I have a 9000 series that I load 2 1/2 inch 410's on. If they can make one for this I wonder why they don't do so in the other guages. I'd love a 2 1/2" capable 9000 in 16ga.

Good Morning Mr. Rich, I wanted a MEC 9000 to load 2 1/2 inch 16 gauge shells so I talked to Dave (the boss) at MEC. He made me a 9000 hydraulic and adjusted all the dies for 2 1/2 inch shells. It does a great job. I had to send him about a dozen or so fired RST's to use for the adjustments. I've had it close to 2 years and it is a keeper. Cheers, Tom

Hi Paul, It's the standard 9000 for hydraulics, just adjusted for 2 1/2 shells.
Cheers, Tom

I called them today to see about three 9000's for 2 1/2 inch shells. A 12,16 & 20. No reply yet.

Mec called today and I have made arrangements for a 9000 16ga for the 2 1/2 inch shell. Next is one for a 20.
Thanks for the heads up Tom:)
