Robert Strosen of RES Engraving provided some wonderful examples of his engraving of classic shotguns.

This is a Fox which will be completed for less than the cost of the basic CSMC AH Fox! Robert restocked this gun also.

While I was photographing Robert’s work Chris Rossiter, a young engraver of Custom Stocks and Steel came to ask Robert’s advice.

The colors were induced by me so that the engraving would have more contrast.

Bob does nice work thats for sure and he is fair priced with a reasonable turn around time. I'll be hunting with "Gunner's Parker" this fall. I saw Bob last year at The Southern, Hausmanns and the U.P. shoot. It was there that I saw and handeled some of his Fox guns and talked to others who had work done by him. With all the positive comments I looked no further for the artist to engrave my project.

Craig I agree with you about the CSM Fox's. They are very nice gun and I just bought an FE 410 but I like Bob's engraveing. It just so happens I have a Fox Sterlingworth 20 that could be another project. While at Hausmanns I saw where a smith took a Sterlingworth and made false side plates with crystal cocking indicators:shock: What a nice gun that could be turned into. Gunner locked on point and a flushing Pheasant on one side and a Grouse o n the other.

There are pictures of Dewey Vicknair's sideplate Fox on his website and more on the Custom Guns subforum on the Fox website.

Bill, would you please provide a link to this gun by Dewey on the Custom Gun Forum on the Fox website?

vicknairrestorations.com. I think it's located in the gallery. Dewey sold the gun to my best friend so I see it and shoot it quite often. It's really quite a gun.

Yup, that's where it is. I watched this gun through its construction and it is really an effort. Dewey also pictures a Smith with Scott like inspection windows. Dewey also filed my Fox Pigeon Gun in progress. It is also a very high effort project. No pictures until done, although I told Dewey he could put it on his website. I feel that my Fox is Dewey's best filing and peening effort to date. His peening work on my gun is exceptional. His part of the project is done.

Bob Strosin did the engraving on this 20-ga. Fox Sterlingworth Ejector for me. It was a pleasure working with him and I couldn't be more satisfied than I am with his work:

Gary,

Robert Strosin's mobile shop is based on a 5th wheel "toy hauler" type rig.

Greg - I've long admired Bob's work on that Fox.....as well as his other work. His detail shots on the web are supreme!
