Hello to All,

I'm a new PGCA member, having joined while at the Southern Side by Side a few weeks ago at Deep River. The SxS was just the push I needed to join the association. I signed up that Friday morning, and shot my Parker for the very first time in the tryout for the LC Smith/Parker Challenge. I've posted some pictures of my gun below, a DHE 12ga serial number 183010. The previous owner had the barrels re-blued and the stock refinished, but in my opinion it was nicely done. A letter will be my next step, but in the mean time I'd be interested in your thoughts on the gun, and would like to know if there is any information out there on my particular gun that you could share?

Your first Parker looks all right to me, it was built in 1919, what length are the barrels? Go to the home page and you may be able to order a factory letter on it.

Beautiful gun Mike. You sure know how to photo them. A 1 frame 12 is delightful to hold and with light loads will be a sweet clays gun. You did'nt happen to buy that gun from Chuck Brunner did you? See you at Hausmanns and please bring her with you.

Thanks for the comments guys. It was in fact manufactured in 1919, has 28 inch barrels, and weighs in at 6lbs 8oz. Daryl, it's a "clay killer' for sure. I shot a 19 & 25 out of 30 at the Parker/LC Smith Challenge tryout. I felt pretty good about that seeing as how it was my first time ever shooting the gun. I didn't get this one from Chuck Brunner, I picked it up at an Auction in Virginia several months back. I'm really looking forward to the NE SxS, and I'm sure I'll have it with me if anybody wants a closer look.

One question I have is about the rarity of the #1 Frame on a 12 gauge? I don't feel like I see a lot of them, but I'd be curious to know if it really is rare, or just my perception of it.

A 1-frame was one of the standard 12 gauge frame sizes, the other being the 2-frame until the 1 1/2-frame was introduced as a standard 12 gauge frame size. After the 1 1/2-frame was introduced the 1-frame was gradually phased out. I don't remember seeing another 1-frame 12 gauge as late as yours but others may have.

I had #197xxx in my hands and seriously contemplated buying it. DHE, 1frame, SSPB, 28", splinter, DT , 75%+ CC, fantastic wood and blue. If it only had a straight grip instead of a PG it would be sitting in my safe right now. Some of the nicest guns come from that era of the 1920's-30's IMO.

That is a really nice looking shotgun. I recently bought a 1 frame GH damascus in 12 gauge with 28" barrels I had a couple of 2 frame 12s with the 30inch barrels.but the difference is night and day. I much prefer the 1 frame. I am keeping an eye out for some 16 ga barrels
