This year our shoot is on May 12th. Free dealer tables or anyone wishing to display their items. We'll again have the steak dinner that everyone seems to enjoy. :) For shooting there's skeet, trap, 5-stand, SC's, pigeon ring, and a 30 bird flurry. The pigeon ring will be moved so it doesn't interfere with 5-stand and the flurry will be shot down under the high tower. For the SC's course we'll be useing a couple of stations in the woods that no one has shot before. Hopefully I can set the course a little different to challenge everyone with a variety of birds [ hand traps for the squirrel, cripple, nesting pair, and 90 degree 60's ] :banghead: Hope to see everyone again and any new shooters. Flyers will be sent out about the end of March. Hope to see everyone and some new shooters. I can be contacted at 1-810-724-5582 or harm@blclinks.net Paul

We are also open year around [ except the last Sunday of the month ] on Sundays-noon to 4PM, Tuesdays- noon to 9PM [ under the lights ] , and Fridays-noon to 4PM. That Sunday thing - archery shoots the last Sunday and we have shot fall problems from skeet or trap. Once spring comes and SC's is open again we can shoot that on Sundays because there isn't a shot fall problem.

We'll be throwing in the " Duck Towers " also. There will be 4 machines - high out goer, high incomer, left to right, and right to left crosser. It's shot from a boat. We normally shoot it just before hunting season. Paul

Paul,
Is that a side game or part of the SC course? By the way hate the F..king boat.

Paul Harm

It's a side game. :) I got tired of guys whining :crying: who didn't want to shoot sitting down. But this year it's " Hunters Clays ". You'll have to shoot the way it was when it started - gun under the arm, say you're ready, and the puller has up to 3 seconds to throw a bird. Hope everyone will enjoy it that way. :) Paul

With pauls luck (and mine) it will probably snow:rolleyes:

Paaul if you put a back support on the boat seat more people would shoot sitting down, I only do one thing well sitting down....and it aint shooting:duck:

How about umbrellas for all, walkers or canes. And maybe a footstool and handrail for the boat. No wait, I'll have the guys dig a hole for the boat so you just have to step down in it - that way it won't be so far to fall if you can't sit in it without falling over. Maybe an awning over it with a bar for your favirote drinks. That way you'll have something to cry in when you shoot bad. Someone have any other ideas ? Paul

Hey Paul,

I want the boat to be floating in water. We could have someone rock the boat before the shooter calls for the target. That would seperate the men from the boys!

Well, that's an idea. Should we issuse boots ? Maybe a wave maker ?

I tried to get it listed in the upcoming events - for some reason it didn't get put in. Even did a couple of emails trying to find out why - never got a reply. Paul

Did you put this upcoming event in the forum calendar? That way it would be in the upcoming event list at the bottom of the main forum page for everyone to know about as the event time gets near. Just click the calendar button at the top of this page and select the entry type from the "add event" box in the lower right of that page and enter the date info. I put the directions, contacts... etc. in the text box when it comes up too. That way its all there in one place.

Mark, thanks for the great pictures. I'd like to thank Joe Landry who does all the stain and painting on our shotgun fields [ also cuts the grass and cleans up ] . He really makes the place look great. Hope the weather is good - we have a lot planned for this year. Everyone, bring lots of shells - you'll need em. Paul

Okay Parker fans!

It is but two days until the biggest little SxS shoot in Lower Michigan, the annual Lower Peninsula SxS Shoot at the Lapeer County Sportsmens Club at:

1213 N. Lake George Road, Attica Michigan

Date: Saturday, 12 May
Time: on or about 09:00 until finish.

There will be some of the famous PGCA members attending to include:
- Big Friend Ten (that’s me!)
- Blade Smith
- Opening Day
- Crusty Old B**tard (COB)
- A famous Michigan Waterfowler
- Dollar Grade, another fine waterfowler!
- A well known Michigan gunsmith
- Trapshooter “Bill G” from the U.P.
- Hopefully Blind Dog
- Hopefully Paul S.
- Hopefully Paul Jr. with the famous cigar and maybe a Parker!
And many others!

Bill G may set up a display of vintage American Trap guns.

The PGCA will of course have a few Parkers on display.

There will also be FREE tables for persons to show and sell SxS’s, other vintage guns, and associated goods. I always swear beforehand that I won’t buy anything but the uniqueness of the items offered at more than fare prices is too much! I must resist, I must resist…

We hope to see many old and new faces at the Lapeer Sportsmens Club on Saturday, 12 May!!!

On Saturday, 12 May the Lapeer Michigan Sportsmen’s Club held its annual Lower Peninsula SxS Association Spring Shoot. The PGCA provided the centerpiece display with 10 Gauges from U to C Grade, AH 12, AH 12 upgrade, and a few other splendid examples of well preserved and restored Parkers. Many of those display guns were also shot during the day.
Sixty-six shooters participated between the rain showers in sporting clays, 5-stand, duck tower, and the pigeon ring. Aside from intermittent delays due to shooters dodging the rain, it seemed all were pleased with the event. Paul “Bladesmith” Harm organized the event to include a great steak dinner at day’s end.

After the shooting was over the “Parker Guys” gathered for a photos. Included from left to right are:
Destry, Paul S. Jr., Kurt Dollar Grade, Paul S. Sr., Steve (face only), Terry E., Mark Big Friend Ten, Dave L, Rich C.O.B., Bill G., Eric Opening Day, Paul Harm, Forgot his Name but he needs to buy a Parker!, Parker Bachelder, and Brad Bachelder.

Finally, yours truly, with a new to me BFT. The BFT handle came to me because Long ago at Hidden Hollow as I was shooting a ten-pound 32" DH 10 exceptionally well on a fast "grouse-woods" course. After smashing an few fast targets this old Marine's pie-hole bellowed, "Big F---ing Ten" in reverence to my weapon. Hey, it's a Marine thing! Fortuantely before I could utter a profanity I noticed that Debby F. and Kathy R., i.e. PCGA "ladies", were present. The phrase was spoken as “Big FFF-riend Ten”! That’s how call signs and handles are made…

Yesterday I shot the event with a new-to-me 1889 DH 10 with 30" barrels, each with over .030" MBWT. This restored Parker is on a #2 Frame and weighs but 8 lbs 2 oz. I was the ninth prospective buyer to call the seller about this under-priced gem. No guts, no glory!

The sporting clays event was won with a 41 of 50. I posted high score on our 9 man squad with a 37 which is far above my average! There is something both magic and forgiving about a Short 10!

Once again RAIN, RAIN, RAIN. I think we've had it every year. Other than that it was great to see everyone again. We had about 65 people show up. Thanks to everyone who attended. It's each and everyone of you that make it a great shot. Thanks again - Paul

Yes Mark, Kathy and I well remember that day at Hausmann's. It was the next station uphill from the last pond station. You surprised us with your agility with that heavy ten... I never could have done it with that gun!! I prefer a 28 for stations like that.
