There is a Coltforum.com They were as helpful as they could be when I got my 1883. It seems that there is not alot of information on these guns, not even with a letter that was $150 if you have a graded gun. Their long gun section seems to deal with the AR stuff.

There were no cheap Colt SxS. These were expensive guns and every one I have seen was very nicely made. I recently had a hammer Colt SxS alongside a Parker hammer and they were suprisingly similar in feel.

i agree colts were not cheap guns..they are as well made as any gun...but no better than any good name gun...but seems like parker bros have a place in all double gun lovers hearts... charlie

My buddy bought a Colt hammer gun at Tulsa I belive it was a 78 It came with a letter. I was standing beside him being supportive helping him make a yes decision now at least I got somebody with a cool shotgun to hunt with. He shot a couple of my short 10's to see if it worked now if he would just get Parkeritis I'm trying to infect him. Hammers cock like glass. Letter says it was a special grade with a 1.25 extra ingraving not much ingraving on it, with 32 inch barrles got nice wood needs some restoration.
