ITHACA 37 E FEATHER WEIGHT.
The gun is a 12 bore 28 inch barrel with a vent rib 1/2 choke.
and was made in 1962. I use it for ducks and is a really good
tool for the job.

Do any other members own or use a 37 pump

Thanks Dave.

Dave,
I have 2 of them in 16 gauge.
I think they're a fine shotgun, better than the model 12.
That should get a response. :corn:

I've owned 6 of them I think. One 20, one 16, the rest 12's. I started hunting with a 1941 vintage 30" Full choled 12ga with a solid rib; I like them with the solid rib. I've been shooting them for 48yrs and have never once had an older one malfunction on me in any way. Not once... ever. Can't say the same for the 870's I've seen friends hunt with. My neighbor bought a new 12ga about 2 yrs ago?? It got through about 10rds before locking up solid, and before it puked it was releasing a shell from the magazine before the shell from the bbl was ejected; that was fun to deal with. He had to send it back with a shell in the chamber! They worked on it and this time it made it through 6 shells before it wouldn't even extract a shell, even though the slide worked. Off it went again, this time with a fired shell in the chamber. In there somewhere he sent it back because they had scratched/dinged the hell out of the stock working on it and got a new and very nice stock. Finally, he now has "Ithaca ver. 4" and we're hot to see how long it lasts this time and will hopefully find out on Sunday if it's above 0deg. This is a totally new gun. I am not impressed with the performance so far. The metal work on the new ones is nice; the stocks are way too thick and clubby. They are not a fwt any more. My nicest one was a 20ga in mint condition. 5.25#. 26" IC bbl. What a sweetheart. It would make a great Hun gun. I shoulda kept that one.

I forgot. I still own a 20ga mod 37 slug gun that is the perfect southern Michigan deer gun

I own two Ithaca model 37's. 30" 12 gauge with ventilated rib and raybar front sight. Love the bottom feed and eject. Easier to retrieve and pick up empties that land right in front of you. Butter smooth pump action and never had a problem with feeding or ejection. My personal home defense (WSHTF) gun is a 1976 20" with parkerized finish which I think is a good choice since the shells will get thrown down instead of off to the side ricocheting off hallway walls and can bounce in your face / eye in an emergency situation.

I have a Solid rib 12 , vent rib 16 delux, a no rib 20 5.25 lbs and 26 inch. First pump was a plain barreled 12 that I sold to a friend. Decided to move up to a 51. Should have kept the 37.

I have a 20 gauge M37 with 25" VR barrel. It is my only pump gun. I keep it on the bed rail under the bedskirt. I may bet my life on the M37 someday and feel that I'll win that bet!

PS: It's a great little skeet gun also!

My vent rib 16 IC is a very good skeet gun also. The solid rib 12 is like new. The reason for this is that I can't hit anything with it so its only for show.

The model 37 is a wonderful well made long lasting repeater. The only thing wrong with the model 37 is it is not a model 12!

Yeah the next thing you'll be telling me the only thing wrong with a parker is it's not a 21. Everybody got win. on the brain.

Just poking a little fun and have had the same conversation at my local club re: rem. Vs M12. Have 7 of the "perfect repeaters" and am a bit partial. No I was not referring to the mod 12 Remington although I have one and love it with 22 shorts and 30+ red squirrels a year out my bedroom window. All that said if the Parker Trojan 16 I was eyeing is not at the gun show next week there are a few mod 37s I did eyeball last time around- all very well priced- and given the reviews here might as well add on to my accumulations. Only Ithaca I have is a family 4E trap that very much performs for me.
Best regards.
PS. don't own a 21. Raised on Parker. For me there is just something about the lines, balance and simplicity of a Trojan that I always default to when looking at a 21. Go figure.

Well, the Ithaca 37 was first a Remington.. does that count?? You can't beat the bottom ejection and the forked loading gate that lets you push an errant shell back into the magazine when necessary. I had a gorgeous mod 12 with vent rib not too many years back and was hunting ducks and was shoving shells into the magazine as ducks were close and my glove thumb got hopelessly stuck in the loading gate causing lost shots... that was it. I sold it. I did like my $45 mint condition 20ga mod 12 as a kid though. Nice gun. Great for upland. Didn't feel so heavy as a 12ga mod 12. As for Remington 870's.... make lamps outa all of them...
