Hey guys, I inherited a Parker 12 gauge from my Grandfather a while back. I am trying to find out any history on this model serial # 215 714 V. There are also some ID marks on the barrel, they look like inspection stamps??? I have four other older bothers and each has a story about the gun and none match each other. Can anyone contribute a tale? Also a value range of what I have? It also could use a good cleaning and would like to take it to someone here in Portland Oregun
Thanks Doc

That is one very nice VH that appears to have been well cared-for.

The best money spent on it would be to send it to Del Grego in Illion, NY

They are about the preeminent Parker repair shop in the country - their business started in the late 40's or early 50's after having worked for Remington in the Parker Gun Shop.

And their prices are very reasonable and the quality of their work is the very best.

How about driving down to Keith Karcher in Bend? From what I see, he has a great reputation

Doc: It looks like you inherited a very nice Parker VH Grade 12 gauge hammerless non-ejector gun with capped pistol grip stock and 28 inch barrels that should be marked "PARKER BROS. MAKERS MERIDAN , CT U.S.A. VULCAN STEEL" on the top rib. (All this according to the serialization book) You gun was made in 1926. You should join the PGCA ($40.00) and order a letter ($40.00) That may tell you to whom the gun was originally shipped to. Your gun appears to be in very nice original condition with a lot of case colour showing on the watertable & barrel flats. It is also marked as having three inch chambers. Value wise it would be in the $1,500 - $2,500 range IMHO.

Best Regards, George

Where is this gun marked as having 3 inch chambers? On the barrel flats I see the unstruck weight of 3 pounds 11 ounces.

First off, thank you for the replies it helps out a great deal. To George's reply; It does have that on top of the barrel and will take a look at joining the PGCA. This gun has some questionable history. My Grandfather was a cop from the 20 to the 40s and how he came by it is a subject of humors debate in the family. What does IMHO mean?

Brooks; I weight the barrel with the (forearm snap-on?) and it came to 3lbs 11oz. I am not sure how to measure how to check a 3" chamber. Other marks on the barrel flats; J.G. with a circle around it, NT/A.

Chilled: thanks for the recommendation on the cleaning.

Is they a place on line for a shot gun glossary with pictures?

Thanks again guys
