Two articles in the Spring issue of Parker Pages about single barrel trap guns. It's a movement. Great job Scott and Phil.

I love mine. It should show up in an article before too much longer. I need to find out if it is really the one Fred Gilbert set his record with.

My Annie recently got a prosthesis thanks to a certain member here, so another article will probably be coming at some point!

Who had the SA for sale at Louisville?

Who had the SA for sale at Louisville?

I don't know him by name. John Allen probably does, their tables were not that far apart.

I recently inherited a Parker Bros SBT with the following markings on the water table:

PAT'D October 25, 1916

SAA
220773
4

Can anyone help with any specifications (grade, etc) and an estimate of insurance value?
Both the metal work and wood are in good to very good condition.

No existing records on this serial no. It would be helpful if you could post some pictures of the gun.

Yes, there is a bit of a conflict between the SAA and the 4. Pictures are required to identify your gun.

On a bit of a learning curve here.

I hope to have attached five pictures of the gun that I mentioned. Let's see if they go through.

You have an SC grade Parker. Nice looking gun.

Thanks.

There don't seem to be many of these on the market so arriving at a valuation for insurance purposes is a bit of challenge...

Shawn, a number of variables must be considered when attempting to put a value on these guns. Condition, configuration and originality are to name just a few. In my opinion a typical "untouched/not messed with" SC would be valued in the $2,500.00 to $3,500.00 price range. To put a more specific value on your gun, be it more or less than the range I proffered, would require someone giving it a hands on inspection.

A very fine inheritance.

Thanks for the information John.

My Uncle told me that he purchased the gun after shooting at the Grand over forty years ago (he's 97). To him the Parker was a trophy from a very successful shoot.
While he was very engaged at the trap club up until a year ago he favored his Baker and occasionally one of his Perazzis.
After our last trip to the club and just before he went to a nursing home he gave me his pride & joy, told me that it would make me a better shooter, and commented that his kids could fight over the other guns...
And as Paul Harvey used to say, "and now you know the rest of the story".

What is your uncle's name and what state did he shoot in? Give me that information and I'll look up his shooting records for you. Recent asking prices on gunsinternational are a bit higher than the prices mentioned here, but they are inflated and unlikely to sell at those prices. That is a great looking SC and has some questionable markings on the water table, "AA". The AA is probably a spurious marking to deceive a buyer.

Bill,

Before retiring to Gainesville, FL my uncle - Bob (Robert P) Huey lived outside of Rochester, NY.

In addition to shooting at a club near his home, as I recall he also shot at regional competitions in Bradford, PA as well as "Grands" in Ohio and Florida.

Outrageous wood! And a rich story! Beautiful.

Shawn, great provenance and history connected with this gun. A gun you should never part with. If I were you, I'd use it for its intended purpose. And yes, your uncle was correct, it will make you a better shooter. At least mine did.
