View Full Version : Thoughts on this SBT...

I’ve never owned a Parker sbt but have the opportunity to buy this one. I’m being told it’s a Del Greco redo. 34 inch barrels.

Haven’t had much experience with these. Does the wood look original? If so...is the Monte Carlo style more rare? Where most of these 34 inch? Obviously the butt treatment is incorrect but lop to the end of wood is 14 so should be fine with pad.

Any additional thoughts appreciated.

James

Very early SC that has been refinished, probably by Del Grego, probably restocked also. Everything looks fine to me.

Thats a restock. And complete cosmetic refinish.

If you plan on shooting it and it fits you and it's tight and mechanically sound and you don't have to fix anything, then she looks like a nice one. And you might find you like the Morgan Adjustable Recoil Pad. If you are simply adding something to the collection, I'd keep looking. As to prices for SCs, seems like they're going for anywhere from $1500 to $3500. Because of the rework and modifications, I'd put this one on the lower end of the scale. But then, what do I know?

If you bought it, get rid of that awful Morgan pad.

All together now;;;DEL GREGO - not Del Greco, El Greco (I think he made swords only), Delgrebo or Delgrecco. Practice makes perfect!

I second what John said. 34” bbls are the exception rather than the rule. I have a first year SBT also redone by DEL GREGO. What is the asking price? That will tell you just about everything you need to know.

That's a pretty exceptional gun to "pass" on.

This is great advice. I'm not a collector; I have no interest in it, and even the concept of it is way above my pay grade. Every gun I've ever bought I've bought to shoot, and/or just because I wanted it. So it's up to you and what your goals are for the gun.

I have eight of them and I wouldn't pass on this one. An early single Del Grego restoration is not very common. It was probably done by Larry Senior, who knows or knew more about Parker singles than anyone on the planet. PM me with information and I will buy it if you choose not to, if the price is right.

Bill, just curious as to what you would consider to be the right price for this particular gun?

For me? $2299.00. Of course, we would like to pay as little as the seller will allow.
