I’d love to see the research letter on that one.

Go for it Tom!

I saw that gun when it was first posted and I really admired that engraving. The research letter is included in the listing on GI. It makes no mention of the special engraving as I recall.

That one is different from the norm for sure.

The last oddball DH I saw had a dog jumping into the air trying to snatch down a flying bird. That was on the one side of the gun. The other side had a rather cartoonish looking expression on the dogs face.

Both the stock books and the order books should be available for that period... maybe another look would be in order.

On the other hand, I've seen some pretty nice period correct Parker duck engraving that are not factory done...

..... the birds and dog... birds and dog only.

I would say the GI gun is a 16 letter has it at 12 and lug is marked 16 things got me messed up and 16 ga.snap caps but his description has 12 and 16 listed Barrels look to be blued not Damascus as letter states barrel length don't match either Now I think im loosing my mind

Looks like it was originally a 1 frame 12. Barrels are a replacement, not sure if it was done at the factory though. They’re marked Titanic Steel 1 frame 16 gauge.
