Parker Bros. made a great many shooting accoutrements and I am not surprised in the least to know they made a shotshell belt. Notice the shoulder straps too.

Mostly I noticed that the leather appears to have a lot of dry cracks, although it is described as in good condition. It would be a different item to take afield. I always found that shell holders mostly let a few find their way to the ground without me knowing. A few in a pocket has never let me down.

It is described as being marked "Parker Brothers". I would ask for pictures showing the markings. There is a similar belt and buckle pictured in an early Parker catalogue, probably the 1887 catalogue, one of those belts is in my collection, but mine is not marked Parker Brothers. I don't think the estimated price is what such a belt is worth. I have no idea what the stocks are worth.

I have examined a couple of these and this one from what I can see from the photo is correct. But as Bill remarked none have been marked Parker. I too would like to see the markings before I bid.

I can't find the one with the brass buckle in the 1887 or 1889 Parker catalog, but I think the metal clips are a Parker patent. The one in the 1887 and 1889 catalogs has leather shell receptacles and two light duty leather straps and buckles in place of the brass buckle pictured in the auction catalog. We might find the one with the big brass plate in the Johnson book but I can't find it in The Parker Story.

I can't believe the timing of this post. I was getting ready to ask for help in getting a value of my old shell belt that is loaded with empty brass 10 ga. shells. I don't believe it is marked either. I will try and take pictures tomorrow and post them. Just checked belt and is stamped H. Nelson Makers Kirkwood Missouri. Thomas L. Benson Sr.

I found the metal clip "patent" belt with the metal buckle in the 1878 catalog. It seems that may be the last catalog where it appeared. The buckle does not seem to be identical to the one in the auction picture, but I'm sure there were more than one type. I seem to remember years ago seeing a patent metal clip belt that had the Parker name stamped on every metal clip. Maybe the one in the auction is one of those. I would request information about the markings they allude to.

I found a metal clip belt in my collection, but I'm not sure it is a Parker patent clip belt. It does not have the decorative buckle, only a hook and eye system to keep it on. The metal clips are not marked.

Gentlemen who collect: I did get a picture direct from the auction house. I would think the belt will be of interest to someone here, as it sure looks like a Parker factory made shooting accessory. I'm not into collecting more stuff, I'm into getting rid of stuff, none of which is Parker memorabilia by the way and my few guns are not "stuff" :)

Hello all. While helping a friend help liquidate his parents estate, I ran across this shotgun shell belt and while investigating online, ran across this forum and thread. It holds 26 shells (there were still 5 full brass shells in it), the brass holders are marked 'PAT APR.16-78 P & S SERENA ILL', the top of the belt is marked PAT JAN-31-71 & MAR-18-78', and behind the shell holders 'PARKER BROTHERS WEST MERIDEN'. I have no doubt this is the belt pictured in the 1878 book mentioned here. Just looking for a fair value and offer, and to put it in a Parker collector's hands where it belongs. Depending on what those shoulder stocks were off of, I'd say the lot went cheap. That photo of the black policeman was worth $50 bucks or more by itself.
