This thread is dedicated to Jimmy (Jimma) Hall who introduced my son and his girlfriend Blakely PARKER to Boykins at the Southern two years ago.
They were able to locate a breeder in SC where B is from.
After extensive background investigation, the breeder released these two boys to come to CONNECTICUT.

Although their legal names are of two Confederate generals (not politically correct in Blue Connecticut) they are affectionately known as Hall and Oates. Hall is for Jimma Hall. Collectively they are known as the Brown Dogs- as opposed to them big Yellow Dogs.

Here they are with Blakely at our farm where Henry and Blakely live along the CT River.

They are instantly famous at a local restaurant along the river. You can tie up and eat at the Shad Row in season. Right next to the Ferry landing.

They are not at all afraid of the water. This is Jimma Hall.

I'm on my fourth Boykin. You are in for a treat as they will do most anything you want. They are not kennel dogs as they thrive in your company. I am delighted for you.

I guess the picture is upside down because I'm South of the Mason Dixon Line.

Can they understand you, George?

Can they understand you, George?

Well they belong to Henry and Blakely who are Clemson grads and they can talk the talk.
When I speak to the Brown dogs I pretend I am Jimmy H. They seem to respond to me then.

What special dogs Boykins are...and it looks like you have two extraordinary ones. Do they still bark with a drawl?

There is nothing like a good Boykin. Am on my 2nd. Bay aka Babydog sleeps with me every night has flushed and retrieved everything from prairie chickens, huns, sharptails, to grouse, doves. in addition to finding six wounded deer. She prefers pheasants or quail killed with a Parker.

They are true southerners. They only bark when asked to do so.

Eli is at my feet now.He is out of Carey Knowles kennels in Mcray Ga.He is a tough loyal dog that can hunt and be a house dog and protector(Chessie background). They are eager to please their owners but cannot be forced.Very intelligent dogs that demand proper dog ettiquette.

Beautiful dogs George. And as to the "Southern thing", my wife and family are from Arkansas. When we were dating I was in Fayetteville for my first gathering with her sister/brother-in law and Parents. At Easter Dinner, somehow talk came around to my future father-in Law saying something about the "war of Northern aggression". I was confused for a moment and then realized he was speaking of the Civil War. As a boy from New Hampshire I just kept my mouth shut:shock:

Well now imagine that !

I have the one and only Spaniel I've ever owned and it's a Little Brown Dog and you might imagine who turned me on to the breeder to get her from !

Matter of fact Jimmy Hall's youngest Boykin is a littlermate to mine !

This pic was taken at the breeders the day I picked her up she was 7 weeks I think now she's now 16 months .
