I'm sure most of us received the flyer from Rock Island Auction, for the sale this past weekend.
I took particular note of the Ulrich engraved First Model 1873. Winchester Lever guns are a close second to my love of Parkers, but what really caught my eye was the beautiful monogram on the right side of the frame. The initials of the Winchester employee it was made for were JSB, but the monogram looks very much like ESB (the middle engraved letter of this style being the surname initial.)
I suggested to my wife that this gun would make a great addition to my Winchester collection. I didn't mention the pre-auction estimate was $160,000 to $275,000
I just got the tally of the sales, and "my gun", lot number 1008, went for a tidy $529,000. I am preparing myself for the letdown of not finding it under our tree.

Edgar, There's always the chance that your wife was the successful bidder. Better wait until Christmas morning.

Might be just a coincidence and maybe you should talk to Julie about if, but I just checked on Zillo and your house is for sale... so enjoy that Winchester!

Even if she sold her stable full of unicorns, it still wouldn't happen.

Maybe her boyfriend got it for you. Just kidding

Not that I think that remark was called for, but if she had a boyfriend, and he got it for me, he'd be my boyfriend too.

After all you did buy her a snow blower so a Winchester would seem in order. Next time instead of the snow blower maybe a winter home in Florida or Arizona THEN the Winchester might come along:)

What good would her new snowblower do her in Florida or Arizona?

I said next time instead of the snow blower If she had a nice winter home a Winchester might be in order. Thankfully we haven't needed a snow blower here yet but a Winchester is always welcome:rotf:

She said she'd rather another snowblower than be sentenced to live in Florida.

If we move out of snow country and leave our homes behind for the winter, do we still have to shovel our snow or can we let it pile up?

Valid question Bill I'd love to find out. As far as I'm concerned Mother Nature put it there so wait long enough and she will take it away.

I had to help her along today regarding snow removal. First accumulation of winter and the snow blower wouldn't start:cuss: Did it the old fashioned way with a shovel. Now where did that Winchester go???
