I just purchased an Alex Henry double...straight grip, 30 inch barrels, 6 pounds 12 ounces and beautifull damascus barrels. The barrels are nitro proofed for 1 1/4 ounces and in great shape. It has 2 1/2 inch chambers. Since it is nitro proofed would you shoot 2 3/4 shells factory (light loads) shells in it? After reading Sherman Bells article on the pressure effects of shooting 2 3/4 in 2 1/2 inch chambers I am thinking this may be possible? There is a much bigger variety (and lower cost) to choose from by using 2 3/4 inch. Currently shooting RST shells.

Bob,If it were my gun I would stay with the RST shells.

I have seen some guns proved at 1 1/4 ounces and 2 1/2" chambers. I have never seen where that jives with the normal proving done at British proof houses. I question the marks. I would continue to shoot the RST shells.

Bob: That's good advice from Dave & Bill.
