Wow; that's quite a pistol grip! I assume that's a replacement stock? Photos are very poor; hard to tell much otherwise.

The wood is not original to the gun. The stock style is called an Etchen grip after the famous shooter Fred Etchen. His son was Rudy and his grandson is Joel Etchen. The serial number stated is too early for a SBT. I suspect the correct serial number is more like 204xxx which would make it 1923.

Looks like not a bad SC if originality is not a consideration. The price is below the normal for an original SC.

To each his own but all the years I shot trap and skeet I never cared for the Etchen style pistol grip .

If the gun were restocked in a more traditional PG fashion I wouldn't be that bothered although not at full 100% original price . But the Etchen PG would kill it for me unless I had another stock waiting on the gun before I purchased it .

I always like the Etchen style stocks they were originally made by Rudy's father not for everyone but he sure could shoot one. He was one of the all time great trapshooters with a 870 pump. He got one of the first 870's made in 1950 got his stock went to the Grand and broke the first 100 straight in doubles at the Grand shucking away to victory. Was one of my heros

Fred Etchen shot a Model 12, not an 870. That was his son Rudy who shot the 870

Fred made the stock on Rudys 870 it was Freds design but Rudy was the shooter I was refering to about the Etchen grip stock.
