Been shooting my new SBT. Lady at our club , top trap shooter , has been working with me. She says the old hard and slick Pachmyer pad has to go. Inconsistent mount shot to shot. It's not original to the gun so no issue with changing

Friend that does my stock work agrees but does not like the new reproduction pads. Says the rubber is poor quality. He likes Kick Ease. They have one with a bit of curve built for premounted. LOP is right for me, no wood work needed.

Any recommendations for a pad that works and does not offend my eye on a nice Parker.

Kick-eez pads are nice and they are my favorite modern pad to fit.

Kick-eez used to make pads in a Red color that looked absolutely knockout when fitted. Especially on an older gun. But they are hard to find these days.

But the common black version would not look bad on your gun.

Hawkins pads are the correct pad for an SBT gun

Is Hawkins Hawkins or a reproduction of Hawkins ? If a reproduction It's the one that some say is poor quality. No offense it's what I hear not what I know . It has the correct look for sure.

Hello William,

I have a used but very good original Hawkins dk. red pad with 14 slots. It measures 6 1/16" X 1 5/8". If you're interested, shoot me a PM and we can discuss it.

Best, Dean

I think the Hawkins pad with the heart shapes is what was put on my SC in 1941
Will post picture later

Deans pad was a bit too narrow.

In some of the late 1930s Remington Trap Gun literature they show their Parker SBT with a Jostam Hy-Gun pad and their Parker double trap with what appears to be a Silvers or Jostam Air-Cushon pad.

In the same booklet their Remington Model 31TC and Model 32TC are shown with the Hawkins pad. A good pad from back in the day for a pre-mounted Trap Gun was the D-W --

As for the repro Hawkins pad, it is the really large size with 15 openings, and takes a very large stock to work. Finding a NOS with 13 openings is often the better option.

The Hawkins with the heart shaped openings is to be preferred over the slotted Hawkins pad.

I put a red Kick-eez pad on my Ithaca 4E SBT gun and it looks good and takes out the recoil and does not slip, I ordered it right from Kick-eez.

Your choice depends on whether originality or perceived recoil reduction is at the top of your list. Take your choice.

Original is good most of the reproduction pads are not. Agree with you soft pad does nothing to reduce recoil. Sticky pad will help proper mount though. It's easy to mount wrong with something slick. You think you are sliding up to the same spot but no. Straight out and back into the shoulder pocket mount , no sliding up and around, works best for me.

I put a KickEz Trap on it. No stock cutting needed, find the right original pad I can take it off and replace.
