Gentleman, I have a Parker Wood Vise Model 446W, does anyone have any info
on this product, year of Mfg & its value. I can find lots of info on their machinists vises but nothing on this one.

It is the type of carpenter vise that attaches to a work bench at waist height, right? If so, I do understand that model to be one of their rarer ones. Seldomly seen.

Thank you Brian, yes it is a work bench carpenter vise and is made for work bench waist height, the vise is in excellent condition.

It's real nice, that handle won't do though.

Hey Bill, do you have a photo of a proper handle. Tom

Tom, other than the handle being a bit shorter than normal, and the red end caps, that handle is just as it left the factory. The larger version had a metal handle.

I have a hardware catalog from the early 1950's that show these Parker woodworking vises still available.

Handle appears new and softwood. Looks like a dowel. No doubt Parker would have used hardwood probably Maple. Don't know what the end treatment would have been for sure it was not plastic.

If someone can give me the specs on original I can make a near copy

I saw these on Lie-Neilson when I was getting a new chisel.

Pretty fancy, but correct.

I have ove virtually identical to the one you show Edgar, but there is no manufacturer name anywhere on it - just the model number.

Which one are you referring to, Dean? The first one is a Parker, made after Union tool bought the vice business, ca. 1957

The wood handle on mine is exactly like yours Edgar, as is the rest of the vise.
