"The first man to congratulate J.G. Messner after he was proclaimed the winner of the great American handicap was A. W. Dubray the pleasant representative of the Parker gun and had Mr. Dubray himself been the winner he could not have looked better pleased, as it was the first time an American gun has ever won first place, and of course Dubray was well satisfied to have it be the Parker gun in this instance."
