Hello everyone!! We hope you are enjoying Fall in NEPA( or wherever you are)!! Sunday, November 16, Rock Mountain Sporting Clays will host a Handicapped Sub-Gauge Shoot. 100 birds for $35 with an optional $10 Lewis Class. Lunch will be provided for all who preregister with a phone call or email. For those unfamiliar with this handicap, here's how it works- if you use a 12g O/U or semi-auto, your score stands. If you use a SxS or pump gun you get 5 birds. If you use a hammer gun you get 5 birds. If you use a 16g you get 3 birds, a 20g gets 5, a 28g gets 10 and a .410 gets 15!! Handicaps are cumulative, a .410 SxS hammer gun gets 25 birds!! A 16g pump gets 8. A 28g O/U gets 10. Got it? Any questions please call 570-965-7625 during normal business hours. We hope to see you on the 16th. Shooting starts at 9:00 and you must be on the course for your last, or first round by 1:00. See y'all soon!!

That is great of you to have such an event.

Mills, we usually have 2 of these shoots per year, sometimes 3. Normally Spring and Fall. If we have some mild Winter weather we'll try and schedule a 3rd, but that forecast has to look good for a few weeks in order to do so. A 20g pump and a 28g O/U have won this. I'm waiting for Frank to break out a 20g hammer gun and smoke the course!

I couldn't agree more. Those handicapped sub-gauges have been neglected far too long!

You think they could get special reserved parking tags?

(all in good fun LOL)

Mike, I plan to be at the shoot with a 12 gauge hammer gun, using 3/4 ounce RST Falcon Ultra Lites. Now ..... since 3/4 ounce is the classic 20-gauge load, does that qualify as a 20 ga Hammer gun?

It can also be a 28g hunting load so maybe we can slide you into a SxS 28g hammer gun for 20 birds? You'll have to shoot off against Jeff's 1873 Win lever action 12g!!
