Today I was editing pictures of a grade 2 10ga I recently purchased. When I zoomed in on the engraving of the high resolution pictures I discovered a typo that I would not have noticed without a loop. Below are 5X enhancements of the left and right sides of the action. There was no spell check for engravers in 1891.

Dean,
I looked at both sides for more than an hour and I started to think this was two different hands. The letters are just too different to me to be from the same engraver, but I actually think the typo side was the better hand. I also think the typo side birds are an excellent example of "hen pecked". I look at the back bird as the hen and she is giving him a mouthful.

A pretty well known local engraver and gunsmith to my area that has worked for many of the larger shops over the years and it mentioned in The Parkwr Story told me about how he recut the engraving on a DHE once where one of the dogs on it had 5 legs.
